No drama after all. Tavion left his first FT short, ending his streak at 30 straight, four away from the Iowa record.

And Iowa could have won by a much larger margin, but lots of FTs were missed. To still win by 10 on the road against a much bigger team is that much more impressive.

I would be half-tempted to encourage any Hawkeye player who has made 20+ consecutive FTs to look for an opportunity to miss one at an appropriate time. Getting close to the sacred record just invokes drama and potential hurt feelings. It's a no-win scenario.

I wish someone would just break the record already. Chris Street was more than just a free throw record.

Coach Mccolum mentioned that exact thing when asked about it. He said Banks was really stressed about it and what he should do... Ben said that Chris was soooo much more that a FT record.

I was on the page of missing and having a cool tradition of like 5 players all with the same record....

But I've flipped. Go break that record, so that some FT record isn't the focus of Street's legacy by these talking heads.

We ALL know that Chris would say "to break it, if you can". Give 100%....

The conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe that Banks missed that FT on purpose when he did, to stop all the needless hubbub about it as well as the 'pressure' on him to "do the right thing" when the FTA for the 35th straight made was looming.

Also probably had the feeling that it would very likely be that the time to miss or make at the record would be in a spot his team couldn't afford a miss last night.

Could have just had an unplanned hitch in the shooting motion, but that miss on FTA 31 straight came up way short. Barely caught the front rim. 🤷‍♂️

I wish fans and the media would just not bring it up until it actually happens. Records are meant to be broken. If/when the record is broken, it's not as if we will all forget who Street was.

Exactly. If someone breaks Street's FT record, that in no way diminishes his legacy.

I have a hard time believing anyone would think or feel differently about #40 if he didn't hold that FT record.
