Balk or Not

Runner on first nobody on second or third, right handed pitcher. Pitcher comes set and keeps shoulders still but turns head back towards 2nd to look at runner with a big lead off first over his right shoulder instead of left. Faces back towards home before throwing a pitch.

Someone was trying to tell me this is a balk. For the life of me I can't see anything in a rulebook that says this .. no move is being made to the unoccupied base by the way.

Just how big of a lead does the runner have?! Based upon the scenario you laid our for us, it sounds like he's halfway to second.
