Nice. We're going to need his positive attitude and experience when we get into B1G play and things don't necessarily go our way against the top competition.

soft schedule aside, he and the rest of the team have definitely taken on a much different vibe from last season.
As already noted above, it will be interesting to see how things work out when we start the league schedule. If we can pull off two more wins over FDU and Fordham to get to 11, we may just see a butterfly emerge from that cacoon that has been Rutgers basketball for way too long.

Is he the mvp of the OOC schedule? Even if it turns out that the B1G players are too much for him, he's been an important cog so far. I'd definitely like to see him pull the trigger more from 15 feet.

I agree with you Winfield. He has a nice stroke from the line and a lot of times he gets it about 12-15 feet from the basket. If he takes that shot and makes it that opens up the low post that much more for the high low game

No, I would say he is 2nd on the MVP list. I have Freeman #1.

Getting CJ at the 11th hour allows us to compete with the bigs in BIG schedule... didn't realize the significance at the time but know it now.....with Sa bold moves that should help us alot going forward.

Just remember this when those times come and he doesn't look so good against top-flight competition. (Same comment about the team as a whole). He's going to have his moments and this board can be really cruel. Keep on truckin' CJ.

There is always going to be a faulty/untrued wheel on the bandwagon.

I am intrigued to see what C.J will do in the big ten. It might suit him more. Just has to go straight up and not foul. If he does that, he is a 6 and 5 player.

Conference play might suit him more.

He will really have his hands full with

Maryland (Dodd- Currently out few games but should be back for RU)
MN (Lynch)
Indiana (Bryant)
Wisc (Happ)
Purdue (Ivan Drago)
Ohio State (Thompson)

The PennState freshman looks to be for real also , though more of a power forward

Hope he sustains his exuberance & his determination - sure there will be tough stretches - but above all else - if he can continue to exhibit the attitude of relentless drive and love for the game he will be of huge value - and hopefully will continue to be appreciated for giving the best that he has to give - even if the limits of his skills get revealed by more talented opponents.

Long term he will be paying his mortgage by doing something other than bouncing a ball - and that is fine - and if his engaging personality & apparent genuine strong work ethic serve him well, he will experience great success in his chosen field - and at some point down the road when he is introduced to a large audience - they will cite his background and state "former center in the Big Ten for Rutgers University" ... and one can hope that the opportunity to play, the perceived value of the B1G and the academic credibility of RU will in some way also prove attractive to other grad-transfer candidates who may be able to make a valuable contribution to the team as they play their remaining year of eligibility

Always tricky when you have one year to play. He took a chance and it worked it so far. Regardless of how the season ends and I'd be shocked not to see us do fine; CJ is guy I bet Pikell will always remember when he thinks back to his first year. I will certainly never forget him. He brings senior leadership and swagger to a team who didn't have much confidence coming in. CJ had plenty of confidence and what a difference a year makes :)
