As our 2nd lowest paid coach, Mario is overpaid. Ruud, who has his NFL money, is the only coach getting paid less.
not sure you are making this point, but what difference does it make that Ruud has NFL money? If he is only getting paid the $225k or whatever because he has NFL money that is stupid. Pay him what he is worth, could only be the $225k but don't give him that simply because he has savings.
Overall, not a very impressive group of assistant coaches. If Frost fails here, that will be one of the biggest things to point a finger to.

That might be true but there is probably a big age gap as well. Saban is like 70 and probably a good 20-30 years older than his assistant coaches.

The only time being a buddy with your assistants is a problem...is if you can't replace when they need to be replaced.
That may be all he wants. Rather than turning around and making a donation to NU he might be willing to work for less for his alma mater. Some guys do that. Considering that he was a grad assistant up until recently, 225K probably seems like a nice check. He'll be fine and I'm sure he'll climb the ladder when we start winning.
