I walked into a store in Madison MS with a Mississippi State cap on. Just minding my own business. A short fat slob with no team gear on looked at me and said Roll Tide. How would you respond to him?

I wouldn’t. The best thing you can do to people like that is pretend they don’t exist.

How about that

I'd bring it to here to my internet friends to inform them of my random encounter with a short fat bama fan!

For a second there, I was on the edge of my seat. I even hoped for an outside chance you may have a stack of small wallet/business cards that say #HAILSTATE. You could have given the short fat bama fan one and then had a stare down like Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort prior to UFC 126. He would know you're ready ready!

You missed an opportunity to become a legend with your internet friends. Instead, it sounds like you simply went to a store in Madison, MS and had an interaction with the general public!

Ask him, "Speaking of Bama, since you're obviously such a huge fan and all and I'm guessing you travel there often to support them....I was taking a trip to Tuscaloosa soon to do some business on their campus. What's the best way to get there?"

A lot of "fans" are sidewalk fans that wear the t-shirt and have no clue. I walked into a store in Gautier a month or so after our last win in Oxford with a State shirt. A girl in her 20s said "Hotty Toddy" when she saw my shirt. I replied "55-20". She had a blank stare for several seconds that told me she had no clue what I was talking about. I said "you know, because we just beat OM by 35 points". Her reply - "Hotty Toddy, woo hoo!" She wasn't even cute,...

She was no doubt confusing State and Ole Miss.

“Go home and get your 17’in shine box.” Quick fast and easy, probably make them tilt their head, maybe even cock an eyebrow if they have the ability.

Should have sadly shaken your head and said, "you know, the Bear always hated to hear folks say that."

Or you could have said, "I guess you didn't the ESPN deal that NCAA was in Tuscaloosa yesterday with a letter of charges against the football program. Sounds serious for Saban."

Just keep walking. I don’t know why you'd ever want to interact in any way with a sidewalk Alabama fan.

I'm not as creative as other SPS family members, so I would just tell him to 17 off.

Never heard that before. But I did see that phrase on every shirt in Walmart.

That's because the 3 good looking girls in Gautier got out.
