Our bitter rivals. Will Asheboro have anything for the 'Cats? Anything? Anything at all? Will this game even be worth going to? **

ER put up 28 on a very good EA team. A'town didn't score a point against Randleman who may or may not be a good team. Is it Friday yet?

**This is a trick question, btw.**

Apparently ER “got their clock cleaned” against that very good team.
Losing opening away game by 14 to said very good team?
Ok…😂

So now that Eastern Alamance game is over (a team ranked 3 in Simmons preseason and also in top 5 I believe in Maxpreps) it’s on to the next 3A on schedule in Trashboro.
Not that this is a rivalry game in any way, whole city boys against country boys thing. Yep y’all ER is country despite what some people on here have a misconception about.

Anyway I look for it to be close for a quarter and a half then the good guys in green and gold will pull away and (hopefully) lay a whooping on city younguns…

Hmm. Those guys must have a different definition of "clock cleaning" than I do. It might have been a cuckoo clock cleaning or a pocket watch cleaning.

Twenty-eight points against EA on the road on opening night? I'll take it. Just got to do something about the other side of the ball.

Where do I begin?

I know. I'll start with running back Ervodd Cassidy. I think he's going to be an adequate replacement for Lilly. He's strong and ran the ball extremely hard. He had at least two/three touchdowns. One of those was a nice long scamper down the right sideline. Sophomore Lucas Smith was a nice change of pace from Cassidy. He was the "Thunder" to Cassidy's "lightning".

Wide receiver Jake Fesmire had a whale of a game. He caught at least two touchdowns and had a pick. Nicah Taylor also looked good at receiver (I think he had a pick as well). I was worried about ER's receiving core coming in. I'm way less worried now.

ER destroyed Asheboro in the trenches. Julian Brooks and Jani Norwood looked really sharp. Those two are going to be a problem for a lot of people.

I love ER's new kicker.

DJ Thomas will be a nice weapon for ER. He set the tone off the rip with a long kickoff return. He'll be fun to watch.

Last but not least.......Stratton is still Stratton. Scary thing is he looked a lot quicker than he did last year. They even ran a little option with him. He's going to have another great year.

Overall, I think last year's ER team had greater potential. However, this year's edition is going to be a tough, tough out. I'm not sure they'll be touched in conference play. Toughest game left will probably be Williams in a couple of weeks.

As for the Blue Comets.....

Well...........they look the part. Seriously, they've got some good/great looking athletes. And a couple of pretty good lineman.

However...........they did not match ER's intensity at all. It really felt like the Comets came into this game expecting to lose. I just can't figure these guys out sometimes. Conference-wise, I can't see them beating any of "The Davidson's". I hope I'm way wrong on this. Last night was just not a good look.
