They say, no state money. Which is great! But it appears they are looking for lots of tax breaks. That’s still probably better than what DC and Jacksonville are shelling out for their respective Billionaire owners.

They also say a dome. Which sucks! Buffalo and the new Orange Park stadium are doing it right: An overhang to shield most spectators, but no cover over the field. That’s the way it should be!

(Sorry not sorry about the paywall.)

Sports are doing everything they can to appeal to wealthier and wealthier folks...they know that the gap between the blue collar football fan and the luxury box millionaire is getting wider and wider. Put the stadium in a nice/safe area, make it temp controlled, cut down on seats but increase ticket prices.

"Infrastructure such as entrance and exit ramps from near Route 53 and changes to the adjacent Metra train line would cost $855 million in public funds, the team's consultant estimated in its report. The report attempts to assuage concerns about the price tag by pointing to gross state tax revenues of almost $1.3 billion over 40 years, according to projections from HR&A Advisors, Inc."

Using 40 years as any sort of guide is a joke. Hell the Broncos are looking to build a new stadium and the current one which was state of the art at the time it was built is only 25 years old.
