Because knives and chainsaw blades aren't allowed in the SEC Tourney ?Originally posted by 55mgtf:
I have seen Arkansas players and fans refer to "Arkansas Basketball". What exactly is "Arkansas Basketball" and why are their players saying that they could not play "Arkansas Basketball" against Kentucky.
Must be tough finally having a good team after 20 years only to be in the dark of a giant shadow of another SEC TeamOriginally posted by Cawood86:
I honestly liked Ark and wanted them to be good again until the way they acted before, during, and after the UK games this year.
Crying and whining just sounds like sore losers. Portis got a gift as SEC POY. Anderson acts like he is smelling onions when he is asked questions about UK and his players seem to do the same.
Not even sure more time would have helped them.Originally posted by 55mgtf:
Thanks. It sounded like they were complaining that they weren't able to play "Arkansas Basketball". Almost as if the refs wouldn't let them.

The actual reason they couldn't play Arkansas Basketball is right there in their complaint. They were playing Kentucky. Kentucky simply enforced their will upon them and that was that...
Anderson is trying way too hard to be Nolan Richardson(needs cowboy boots) Arkansas basketball means being a better athlete and getting to a loose ball first and being able to outrun the other team.It is glorified street ball and little else.It is the same thing Ala has done clear back to the days of T R Dunn and Leon DouglassOriginally posted by IL Wildcat:
Arkansas basketball is the "40 minutes of hell" that Nolan Richardson ran back in the 90s. It's full court press, frantic, helter-skelter, running up and down, trying to speed up the opponent and create easy baskets.
The reason Arkansas wasn't able to play "Arkansas basketball" yesterday is because UK didn't cooperate. Kentucky didn't turn it over against their press. Kentucky didn't allow themselves to be sped up in the half-court, but took good shots for the most part.
Arkansas basketball is undisciplined and physical, consists of grabbing, holding, slapping, hoping refs won't call all the fouls and you can gain some kind of edge, even when you are outmatched in many other ways. It's a desperation, really, and it's not a wise strategy because it's very risky. It's similar to Louisville basketball. It will work when the opponent can't handle the press, isn't smart, or maybe has lesser athletes. It wouldn't work on this year's UK team because the Cats have too many ball handlers, too many smart players, and superior athletes.
