Never in my worst nightmares did I have this team at 8-7 (1-3) halfway through this season.

It might have been a blessing in disguise that Dylan was down again and Ace wasn’t great. It forced a couple other guys to step up (Acuff, Davis) and Pikiell finally gave Grant some decent minutes.
I think we still string some wins together once Dylan is back healthy if Pikiell hasn’t completely lost the team.

The problem is that it’s just too little, too late. We’ve dug ourselves a humongous hole that will be impossible to dig out of, even with a different rotation.
Martini will start the remainder of the year. Grant will only see sporadic minutes. It won’t make any sense, so don’t overthink it.
We should run a lottery during pregame warmups and just let whatever fan wins start for us instead. They can't be worse. Maybe we could partner with the Make A Wish people and let them find us starters?
I'm not even hoping for the tournament anymore. I just want to see respectable basketball and enjoy some wins.

We have to be the worst P4 athletic department in the country. A 7-6 football doesn’t help.
I agree that Grant and Acuff contributing tonight makes me a little more optimistic for this season once Harper is back ag full strength. We cannot count on Ace and Dylan winning games without help. Acuff is the most likely SG on the roster to add offense, and Grant almost literally cannot do less than our other forwarda have done. Get Derkack to play a little more under control (easier said than done?) as a glue guy and let's see what happens.
Football is fine. Middle of the pack big ten 2 years running is a miracle for this program.
...a disappointing 7-6 football season is a lot better than the absolute crap show we've seen out of basketball thus far. This squad can't even hit layups or foul shots.

That 7-6 football program is less embarrassing than what we’ve watched on the hardwood this year.
I might agree with you if it were maybe 5 or 6 games ago and we saw what we saw with Acuff and Grant. But we didn’t see it until game 15. If we saw it around game 9 or 10, we might have reaped the benefits with Indiana and Wisky wins. I am filing what we saw tonight as too little too late, although it was a positive, even if we see significant benefits it seems like it is just not going to add up to enough wins with so little runway left for a takeoff. Let’s not forget that we have some tough games ahead that are likely losses plus Big 10 road games. We now have to go 12-4 or at least 11-5, I am not seeing it. Had Pike’s tinkering produced a win tonight I might share in the enthusiasm, but this team just does not get wins. I think we are around a 16-15 team. I hope you’re right, you were right about Grant so you may be right again.
...let me know when football lands 2 5* first-round picks and then loses to Princeton because they can't defend a basic run play or kick extra points...
