We'll see at the end of this season if a NCAA invite makes never accepting another invitation to the WNIT a mute point.

For me it's the NCAA or bust this year and even a WNIT tourney appearance won't have me not seriously thinking about posting: in my opinion it's time for change.

Are the players who were injured and not playing earlier in the season now seeing action?

Our losses are looking better as Drake and Gonzaga are ranked now and VPI is 5th among the ARVs. So none is a "bad loss" at this point.

“NCAA invite”?? Didn’t we just get handily beaten in 3 of our last 4? Including a 10-point loss to Duke? Ooops I mean DRAKE??!!!

She got her 1000. Yay. Can we move forward now?

Season is still young and a lot of RU WBB fans haven't given up hope.

Those who want CVS gone might have decided season is over.

OK so what are your expectations after three of the last four games? Realistically? One and done in the Big Ten tournament again? Another season without playing beyond that? And then, what, say “oh well she’s earned the right to be back again next year”???

Just curious.

I expect RU to make the Dance and will settle for nothing less.
CVS still has the chops in my opinion and if RU doesn't make the NCAA this season, I already have stated I'm seriously thinking of admitting change is needed .

But for now will consider the opponents lost to, players injured and/or coming back from injuries , along with the team getting used to
the way each others strengths and weaknesses are as well as learning the type of teamwork needed to succeed in the way Vivian coaches the game : making giving up this early in season a because of a few bumps in the road, something I refuse to do.

Also, in case you are wondering I stated last season I would give Stringer a pass because she did have the team close to a Tourney team , good enough to get a WNIT bid ( that she turned down), but no pass for next year ( meaning this season) and probably say she should retire if the 2018-19 season ended without going to the NCAA.

3 top-25 losses is not the end of the world. I still think we make the NCAAs as well. Here's hoping for a win our next game.

I just want to chip in that I am really on the same page as MadHat. I know that Drake and Gonzaga (and even VPI) are quality teams this season, I do know that we have injuries and a suspension, but - I still would feel a lot better if we had won one or more of them. My biggest concern with the team - over the last number of seasons - has been that we no longer seem to win the games that we might be a bit of an underdog but won in the past when we were a perpetual NCAA team. The bad season 2 years ago, we didn't even win the games we should have, that's different. But the best that can be said is our losses are not "bad" losses. They are still losses.

I hope we will have a successful season. I haven't seen anything to say that we can't. Like Madhat, if we don't get an NCAA invite, I would have to think that it might be the end of the road for Coach Stringer. We will all see.

Yes, to a point. We have played a weak schedule, and so have (for the most part) the teams we have played. The remainder of our OOC schedule is unlikely to be helpful, although winning (inherently) is the best thing you can do for your RPI.

To get to the NCAA's, RU needs to win, baby, win, and win in conference. It is too early to be sure who is going to be good in conference this season.

When I see a 7-1 Seton Hall
a 6-2 Illinois
Kansas St with a 6- 2 record
along with Wisconsin at 7-2
with worse RPIs than Rutgers:
I personally feel using a programs rpi at the beginning of the season is to early for it to be an adequate way to judge how good or bad a program is.

Set your expectations low ... and in theory you shouldn’t be disappointed ... but this is RU ... no matter how low the bar ... we’ll find a way to go under it.
