Probably not as hard as you think. Trump won the GOP and national on a platform of protectionism, populism, trade barriers, tariffs and a total disregard to deficits and the debt. Policies no longer matter.

BTW the reduction of people on public assistance and declining unemployment began under Obama. And GDP has yet to reach the numbers promised even with tremendous government spending and a tax cut. But I know that beginner's econ isn't your cup of tea.
