Rider was awful last year and are predicted towards bottom of MAAC for this year

They have no height if I recall - albeit roster could be different this year

Have no idea however what to expect from our squad given the turnover and lack of a public exhibition !

Took a look at their roster and bios from their website. Looks like 10 newcomers mostly from community college or colleges I never heard of with a freshman or two. Only 3 or 4 returning players who saw less playing time than Rutgers returning players by far. Seems like every team is turning over much of their rosters. They have a 7’ player, a 6’10” player, 2 6’9” players and a 6’8” player so they have some size. How much talent they have is another question! Should be a good game to see how Rutgers players do against another team.

The first 5 games should all be easily winnable and are needed to sort out this roster and to start getting the freshman who are going to be part of the rotation some much needed experience.

Did anyone sweat Kennesaw State last year? I would not be surprised by anything.
I knew they were a tough squad AND we were playing them away. This year’s OOC guys are some real dregs

We are totally going to loss one of those first 5 games.
Assuming Kenpom is right about the probability of winning each of those games, the probability of winning all of those games is only 78, so they do have a 22% chance of losing at least one game!

Even when we are a good team, we always have a WTF non-conference loss.

See the writing on the wall
Ivory tower's bound to fall
Voices whisper in the wind
I can hear them calling

Love is a fire, burning
And I want to burn

Darkest hour before the dawn
Times we know will soon be gone
Flames of freedom fill the air
I can hear them calling

Maybe not Rider but Lehigh, American and Penn could be troublesome

I mean we lost to Lafayette with a tournament team so of course any game is losable. That said, it doesn’t sound like we’re looking as awful as everyone initially expected. If you check out the Rhode Island fan boards they don’t expect their team to be god awful. Scrimmages are of course not that meaningful since coaches try out weird line ups but I think we’d probably have a sense based on them if we were trending towards Eddie Jordan level bad. It doesn’t seem that’s the case.

Didn’t Syracuse once lose an exhibition game to a D2 school and go on to win the BE tournament?

I’m not expecting us to be a big scoring team so I’m not all that interested in who dropped more points against cupcake teams. Our best defensive players will play most. That’s just how pike rolls. Hopefully a few of them have some skill on O too.

I just posted it because he referenced “those worried about Rider”, I really didn’t have an opinion of what he said either way.
Fair enough. I’m not expecting Rider to present much of a challenge either.

But Rowan is a D3 school.

Totally. My point is it wasn’t a nail biter. These are practice games. You build a lead and unload the bench. I don’t think Rider will be good BTW I’m just saying it doesn’t mean a whole lot.
