Watch him be the next GusNo surprise. And I have no problem with it. The system is wrong for this school's tradition and notions of identity. The head coach has many deficiencies. But every man deserves to have control over his staff, even if that includes his own son.
Also think about it. Only one other program at the FBS level runs this offense. So not a lot of kids are going to sign up to learn it as a GA. And only a few will be familiar with it when they apply. The hiring pool is at best a dozen right now. His son is probably the best amongst that group, I wouldn't know. He seems to be a good young man who worked his tail off. I've got no trouble with it. If he is suddenly the OC next year, well ......
Best wishes to him. Hope he is fantastic. As long as you can’t throw passes to GAs, I’m OK with it!
I do wish him well. This is a great opportunity he’s been given.Best wishes to him. Hope he is fantastic.
GA’s don’t make a dime in salary , appears he has aspirations to be a coach . Nothing wrong with havingHe now put his son on as a GA? No shame! Another mediocre season will get him another contract as well. Unbelievable !!!
Unless something has changed in the last few years, the University offer tuition rebates of 50% during your first year of employment and 100% after that for you and your eligible dependents, including graduate school, MBA and law school. There are plenty of job postings. The idea that TU is not affordable and you can’t work your way through is bunk. Some are probably wondering what this costs TU....the answer is it costs the grad tuition plus any stipend. And the reality is, it's a bookkeeping thing only as it's pushing ledger amounts from an athletic account code to the university's tuition revenue account code. Plus any stipend the assistantship comes with like any GA/TA position at a university. The caveat is, I don't believe tuition benefits can be used by a family member for post-grad degrees and courses. And, if the tax law is still the same, the amount of tuition benefit Cannon receives under the GA'ship is taxable income (at the least a portion of it). At the UG level scholarships and grants are not considered taxable income and there is an exception in the tax law that undergrad tuition benefits, as would be the case for Cannon and his sister, do not fall under taxable income.
OK...I remember grad school tuition being paid for the employee...I don't recall the benefit for dependents. Regardless...that benefit for anything post-grad is taxable, unlike the undergrad benefit.Unless something has changed in the last few years, the University offer tuition rebates of 50% during your first year of employment and 100% after that for you and your eligible dependents, including graduate school, MBA and law school.
