Firstly...2019 kids can't sign letters of intent yet, for that matter neither can 2018 kids.Yes he is a huge 4 star recruit! Big signing if you haven't been following. Athletic rebounder shot blocker power forward
hes just gonna keep reclassifying to a future class so the staff can keep selling "we already have a 4 star committed in your class!"Firstly...2019 kids can't sign letters of intent yet, for that matter neither can 2018 kids.
Secondly...Isn't Mamadou Doucoure a 2018 prospect?
Doucoure is classified as a 2018 but there has been discussion he could end up reclassifying as a 2017, coming on board in January.

While that was a potential option at one point, it is no longer an option.
I was watching video of several guys late Wednesday night (notice the time of this post) and watched two or three games worth of Mamadou Doucoure.
He is powerfully built, has a great frame for going to war on the low blocks. He doesn't back down from anyone. He gets up and down the floor well. Needs to improve his footwork in the low post, about every third possession he traveled. He can dunk but I wouldn't call him explosive -- but I was impressed with how quickly he got off his feet on his second jump. He has only averaged six points and six rebounds in EYBL play and he has missed as many shots as he has attempted -- I'd be more excited if he was making 60 percent of his FG attempts since all but ten of his shot attempts have come in the paint. He is not a pick-and-pop guy, at least that is not how his AAU team uses him so I wouldn't call him versatile (based on the 2-3 games I saw). He did show some nice touch on a few scoring plays. All but two of his made field goals have come either at the rim or within seven feet of the rim. He has not displayed any face-up game in EYBL play this year. Despite having decent length, he has not been an effective rim protector. He is averaging 0.3 blocks per game. He fights for rebounds at both ends of the floor. He will struggle to defend athletic bigs who step away from the low post and face the basket.
He looks like the type of big who will provide depth as a freshman and may have a good game or two in OOC play. His sophomore year could be where he makes a big jump.
I see he attends Our Savior New American in NY. Hopefully Doucoure doesn't have to go thru the drama Cheick Diallo went through regarding course work.
At this point the staff would be wise to hold on to that scholarship. They can roll it into next year or it could use it to pick up a mid-year transfer. Because there will be kids who decide to transfer in DecemberAre there any 2017 recruits still available? We have one more ship to give.
And forego picking up a grad transfer who can help us this year? $$$$At this point the staff would be wise to hold on to that scholarship. They can roll it into next year or it could use it to pick up a mid-year transfer. Because there will be kids who decide to transfer in December
Yea I was hoping for a grad transfer as wellAnd forego picking up a grad transfer who can help us this year? $$$$At this point the staff would be wise to hold on to that scholarship. We already have Kiss sitting out a year so if we leave another open ship could end up being a depth issue if we get struck with the injury bug again. I would like to see a 3 point shooter or big added for the depth if there is one available even if it is just for back end depth and not a starting/ top 8 type player. The big man walk on we picked up is a nice safety option though@dollarbill & @Scangg Rutgers caught lightning in a bottle last summer with Gettys that is unlikely to happen two years in a row. Plus last summer depth was a question mark and immediate playing time was available. I haven't kept track of Rutger's roster but that's not the same scenario this year is it?
Perhaps the staff was holding that 'ship for Doucoure in case he reclassed into 2017 as some posters here thought might happen
