Found lightning in a bottle @ FSU?

Of all the head scratching things I've witnessed in what is truly the strangest year in a while, how on earth can a wing man be shooting 40% from the FT line and like 20% from the 3 pt line.

I knew when I saw him play with Terry in HS he may be up and down, but I thought there would be more ups than this.

My guess is he will be the most improved player on the team next year. Or, he could transfer to Siberia.

Hate it for him. Thought he could build off that FSU game.

"Not a whole lot we can do except to do a better job of recruiting some shooters, because we are who we are right now," Pitino said. "We're a pretty good basketball team, but we weren't as good as Carolina tonight."

Was his shot that flat in high school? Quite frankly he looks very uneasy out there. He dribbles too high, drives the lane without any notion of what to do with the ball, has no rhythm at the free throw line.

It wouldn't shock me to see him get a fresh start somewhere else, such as UNC-Wilmington with Coach Keats.

I'm sure Gill works hard, blah blah blah, but we have to do better. We must recruit players that are better than him and then he is forced to work even harder, transfer or be content to sit the bench.

I, and I'm sure others, were hoping Gill would be that contributing 6th man off the bench this season but it is not to be. I cringe when he shoots free throws and never really feel confident with his other shots during a game either. He looks very lost a lot of the time and out of sorts for a soph.

I was really hoping that things worked out for Gill as well. Kid just does not appear to have it in 'em. Maybe he works on his game over the summer and comes back a more confident/better player. I don't know.

I could be way off, but I thought when he was shooting lights out at FSU that he was very squared up to the basket and in balance, but the vast majority of the time he shoots with his body turned at a significant angle to the basket and has more of a pushing motion. ??

I'm still holding out hope for Gill. Athletically, he's there.

I think he just needs more experience to get comfortable playing in games. I agree that I wish he was further along than he is now, but I don't want to give up on him yet. Heck, he's gonna get a lot of playing time next year.

I realizes the stats don't back me up, but I'm hoping with more game experience he can improve his shooting and scoring, just like O'Bannon, Kuric and Wayne.

What makes you think he is there athletically? I think we are worse on defense when he is out there. That's what is frustrating about our bench. Yes your offensive skills are lacking but at least play your @ss off on defense.

This is exactly what I have seen from Anton all year and especially yesterday. He seems like he rushes his shot a bit and cocks his body almost sideways and against FSU he squared up and looked more relaxed.

I wouldn't give up on him just yet because sometimes guys settle down offensively the more playing time they get and the more responsibility you give them, JMO. I hope he gets the chance.

Pitino: " If you go small -- you know, (freshman wing Shaqquan Aaron) and (sophomore guard Anton Gill) aren't playing very well. I've gone long enough with Anton, trying my best to be patient ... I've gotten to the point that I'll go with David Levitch."

Quite frankly if you are a scholarship player that cannot beat out a walk-on, then you probably need to find a new role somewhere else.

Love Rick but that's the same Rick that said he knew his 7 man rotation for the rest of the year on Jan. 20th that ended up including 13 players.

That's why he is great though, he keeps evolving and going against his former self. I admire that. Not easy.

If Rick is publicly favoring Levitch over Gill then Gill won't be here next year. Saying you can't beat Levitch out is like saying "hey Anton, I screwed up, you're not really D-I". I honestly don't think Gill could start at Murray State, WKU or even Bellarmine.
