Has anyone heard any news about Anthony Pritchard? I know that the announcers for the Tulsa vs. Witchita State game said he was absent due to health reasons, but I am wondering if that's the real reason.

HIPAA laws don’t allow disclosure of illnesses without the consent of the person ill. I imagine Pritchard and coaches will disclose if and when it’s appropriate.

There are a number of bugs and viruses going around right now. In addition to flu, COVID, and RSV, there is a stomach bug going around (my son dealt with it about 2 weeks ago). I would suspect if it were the flu or COVID he wouldn't have been on the bench. If it's a stomach bug, he may have been getting over it but still too weak to really be effective in a game.

Those are the simple ones...if it's something different, and I don't have reason to suspect it's an injury because the announcers kept saying "illness", I don't know.

College teams don't even need to be testing for COVID anymore in young healthy athletes. Moving along.

I would bet on an upper respiratory illness. If so he may not travel to Houston either.

2004 would absolutely not have kicked this team's ***. Jarius was obviously a stud caught on a bad team but let's compare schedules for one.

Exactly! Take Covid away from all of it, it’s extremely selfish to be around people when you know you are sick and contagious. Do we really want a bad bug going through the whole team ?
Who really wants the coughing, sneezing fevered flu guy sitting next to them at church? Or on the airplane? That's a nightmare scenario IMO. People need to take some personal responsibility and think of others. That applies to 20 something athletes and 50 something desk jockeys.

Thanks. I was thinking this same exact thing on his initial response but didn't want the ITS police squawking "Crossfire" at me. It's common courtesy and decency and we should all practice and demand it of our fellow citizens. It would make this place a whole lot more civil.

I agree. Let me rephrase. If someone is sick, they should obviously stay away. Covid doesn't really pose a danger for healthy young athletes, that's why it doesn't make ANY sense to see game postponements in the year 2023.

Hopefully Pritchard will be back for our home game Wednesday night. These past few games have been horrible. We need to get back to at least being competitive.
Amen. I have frequently pointed the finger at Pritchard for various issues; turnovers, poor passes, and his inability to use a pump fake from time to time. But, I think the previous two games are a good indication of the need for his presence on the court. I surely don't believe the outcomes would have been different, but the games would have been much closer.

In all fairness to Pritchard, he has been evaluated in a situation where he has been
QBing a team not exactly swarming with D-1 quality players....I keep wondering how
he would have performed if his floor mates were players that were moving as they
should, ending up were they were supposed to be, and finishing plays with good
catches and good shots...Speaking of good catches, one of our big turnover probs.
this season has been not coming clear of the defender to receive a pass...If the
defender can reach in and touch the ball at all, he has a good chance to take it the
other way...

There is no question that AP was at times too careless with the ball, trying to pass
into too small spaces, and simply being too loose with his dribbling....His last
several games before his illness, he was much improved, and it will be interesting
to see his level of play when he returns....I'm sure Selebangue is looking forward to
his being back!

I still feel that he can become the PG on a winning team with better players around
him....I hope his return will be a much needed pick-up for a team that hasn't been
playing with the needed urgency.....

Wasn’t Jason Parker on that 9-20 team? Didn’t he apologize to the entire city after losing to a sword-wielding Fresno team?

Konkol just said on Blitz 1170 with Rick Couri that Pritchard won't play tomorrow. He only said the health of the players is of primary concern and they will make sure he is healthy and it's safe for him to resume playing before he is back in the lineup.

He didn't drop any hints as to whether it's an illness or injury. IMO, it sounded like he knew that question was coming from Rick and he had a very specific statement answer prepared.

Pritchard is one of only a few players on the team who gives consistently high effort on defense. He’s not quite the PG we need yet, but having at least someone on the team who shows leadership in that area probably matters quite a bit.

Well we can get ready for another arse whipping tomorrow then. Need to decide if a free beer is worth the bother of attending.

Looks like we are losing him based on him saying blessed to receive offer from Texas State

That's distressing. I figured all this medical stuff(true or not) might be cover for him not being a part of the team, and declaring for the portal. I hope he comes back, but won't be counting on it. Now we probably have to find two point guards. Betson doesn't count even if he's here. I'm worried bout others leaving even though we don't want them to go. One in particular.

I'm sure Konkol has been aware of the possibility of replacing the entire roster. No one is irreplaceable.
