Looks like Maryland... Michigan at the B 4 Atlantis and possible Texas A&M or Gonzaga.... and SMU in conference are the only Top 25 opponents Uconn has scheduled , so far.
( Georgetown and Ohio St. not ranked early)..... while Uconn will be a top 25 target for the rest of it's opponents:

Athlon Sports' 2015-16 College Basketball Preseason Top 25

In 2013-2014, UConn was #17 in the preseason poll. At #18 I would say UConn is right where it wants to be: high enough to get a decent tourney seed, low enough to fly below the radar and avoid the burden of expectations.

I've seen other polls that have us as unranked - not even being a homer that is ridiculous. Us being in the 15-25 range is about where we should be heading into next season.

Khalid - the internal expectations are certainly there for this team...they will certainly be higher than the national expectations but that's just the way we like it anyway.

Silk,

I think you are right about the hardcore fan base of which we are a part, which will have very high expectations. I am not so sure about the casual fans though. I have spoken to a lot of casual fans I have attended games with in the past and they are surprised by my expectations. The local media will undoubtedly ratchet up expectations some within Connecticut, but I don't know if UConn will be perceived as a major threat nationally except by the really good college basketball writers and insiders. The rankings will somewhat influence seeding by the Committee, as will conference power, unfortunately. Last year's selections marked a significant trend towards awarding undeserving power conference teams over bubble mid majors with better records. That is what we are seeing and it doesn't help, but it is what it is and does keep expectations down somewhat.

The team and coaching staff will hold themselves to some pretty high expectations especially coming off of last year's disappointment. Let the rest of college bball dismiss us as pretenders and we'll sneak up on them yet again as contenders. I remember what a leprechaun once told me..."Heroes are made in March" aint that right Cronin?
