Nehlen’s QB coach was Bill Stewart, who of course eventually took iver the program and recruited Geno. And Oliver Luck fired Stewart. In addition, Nehlen was the guy who successfully recruited Luck to WVU. So if we stretch word meanings a little (like fired=benched and ‘forced to resign’ and hired=‘successfully recruited’, then you could say: Eli was fired and replaced by the guy (Geno) who who was hired by the guy (Stewart) who was fired by Oliver Luck. This came years after Eli had a breakout game in the very last game coached by the guy (Nehlen, who himself had been ‘fired’) who had hired the guy (Luck, 20 years prior) who fired the guy (Stewart) who hired the guy (Geno) who is now replacing Manning. In addition, the same guy (Nehlen) who ‘hired’ Luck hired the guy (Stewart, as QB coach) who hired the guy (Geno) who is replacing Eli today. The backstory is that Archie Manning was benched for Oliver Luck when they played for the Oilers. and Peyton Manning was let go from Indy to make way for Andrew Luck. My wife assures me that no one in their right mind would think about these things. But I figure anyone who does might be on this message board. Lgm!</blockquote>
