that killed five people and injured 31 others.
The boy was in the 1900 block of West Birchwood Avenue around 2:40 p.m. Sunday when he was shot in the right hand, police said.
He was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized, police said. No other details were available.
The off-duty officer, 58, was on his way to work in Oak Park when he was shot near his home on the Far South Side around 5:15 a.m. Sunday.
The officer's grandson said the officer was approached by two males armed with a gun in the alley behind his home in the 300 block of West 103rd Place.
