Schwartz is out a week after visiting Nebraska. Recruiting class is now #83 in the country.

This is the time to fire Scott Frost since it's a small class and only throw one class in the trash instead of two.

If Trev does the smart thing and gets someone lined up the day after the Iowa game for the whoever the next head coach will be, chances are that the new head coach will bring some of their own commits with them and the class can live another day.

Hopefully the next head coach has a QB committed that is worth a ****.

The team hasn't imploded, yet. Until then, Frost makes it to the end of the year. He may get another year still.

I guess we have to literally become last in everything before we fire this guy.

Probably hasn’t heard from Frost in months.

Recruiting will continue to tank. The mix of a lazy Head Coach and under .500 for 4 years straight is not going to bring in much talent. The longer Trev waits the farther in the hole the next staff will be.

Schwartz does not have the size to play defensive end in the Big Ten, or really any power five school.
It’s embarassing we offered him and is proof that the ”we’re being selective” excuse is B.S. We’re taking kids without even really evaluating them.

Word is we actually did cool on him after a recent visit. But it doesnt make it any better.

Can’t blame any of the current recruits that are evaluating what is taking place in Lincoln…I am sure he won’t be the last.

I want to say that this recruiting class rankings can only go up but that isn’t necessarily true.

I know right? He only had like 30 offers besides Nebraska including Michigan and Penn State. He was Nebraska's highest rated recruit in the class but no way he's a bona-fide B1G player. At least not since he decommited.

How big is the kid he’s standing next to?

I’m not defending the staff.

He visited the Gophers over the weekend according to MN 247 site.

But still, time is right to replace Scott Frost right now.

Not sure what you even mean. The kid is 6'4". Plenty tall for a B1G defensive end. He was offered by 7 B1G schools including Michigan and Penn State. The number one defensive end in the B1G this year is George Karlaftis. He will likely be a first round draft pick this year. Guess how tall he is?

You can't be serious. 6ft4 and 250 lbs. is plenty big to play DE for any P5 team. He has multiple offers from every P5 conference. To claim that Nebraska did not thoroughly evaluate him before offering him a football scholarship is ludicrous. His lead recruiter was Chinander.

Jake Appleget, according to every recruiting site I saw, is 6’4 210 lbs.

Maybe you’re right, maybe we really wanted him and he just flat told us “see ya!”

Either way, it’s a bad look for our staff.

How big he is now is not the key …. It’s how much JJ Watt juice he takes that will be key.

Who is Jake Appleget? Aren't we talking about Hayden Schwartz?? That's the recruit that just decommited is he not?

He‘s the 6’4 210 pound recruit standing next to the “6’4 250 pound” Hayden Shwartz in the photo above.

Well, then couldn’t you say Appleget is too small then?
Besides, as pointed out above, you might not be impressed with Schwartz, but he was the best recruit in the class (rankings wise). So it’s not like Frost can be picky & pass him over for better players right now. Highest ranked kid is outside the top 550, & class is ranked last in B1G. Can’t lose kids at the top of the class.

Callahan stated this morning on KFAB that he was surprised how small Schwartz looked standing next to Applegate, who as stated above is listed at 6'4" and 210 lbs, at the MI game. SC said his feeling based on his experience is that the staff may have cooled on him after the visit. Callahan said Nebraska is taking only one D-lineman this year. Optimistically, I'd like to think maybe they have a bead on someone else who is better to be the lone D lineman in this class. Realistically, I am thinking -- probably not. Hope they surprise me. I guess we will see in the coming weeks how many of those B10 offers the kid had remain committable .

All I know is Trev should be coach shopping right now, behind the scenes, on the front page, I don't care but Frost IMOP is not ever going to be the man in Lincoln as a coach. The question is, does it really help recruiting keeping him till the season's end? Or would it be better to axe him, take the hits now and regroup. Either way, I am sure he will get till the end of the season. I guess he can still get to 6 wins which is to me the minimum for him keeping his job.

THis staff is deliberately sabotaging the program now, they don't want their successors to have any momentum.
They are not deliberately sabotaging this program. They just are not good at what they were hired to do and this is the ramifications of that.

I don’t think I will see Nebraaka return to prominence in my lifetime. Too many bad decisions have been made. If they want a chance of turning this around they will have to identify someone who is an exceptional coach and who is very hungry. Someone capable of developing a culture and players to excel and play above their talent level. Until this happens we are in a death cycle that will prevent any real success.

It is terrible what UNL leadership has done with a great program that was the pride of Nebraska. They’re all trash.

If true it shouldn't take long for one of those P5 schools to grab him.
