Andy Capone is 27 years old and is the youngest coach in Union County history to in a state championship. Does anyone know who the youngest coach is to ever win a state football championship in North Carolina history?

I had noted this on the thread about the Reidsville qb.

Andy has done a great job, no doubt. In all fairness he took over a phenomenal program built by one of the best in my opinion, Tim Carson.

Marion Kirby was 24 or 25 when he won his first title but that was when they stopped at the regional level, one game short of the full
state title.

Russell Stone was a head coach in three sports his first year our of college. May have been the AD, also. Lost in regional final his second year at age 23. He did a win a baseball title at 29.

Coach Carson built the Weddington program and is a legend. He could’ve left after they won the 3AA Championship in 2016, when that team lost 20+ seniors. The 2017 Warrior team, full of sophomores and juniors, won 10 games and advanced to the third round of playoffs. That was probably Carson’s best coaching job. That being said, Capone took this team by the horns and helped turn it into a championship team. He is straightforward and honest and does what he says. The kids love him and the parents respect him. He certainly has a bright future and should be, IMO, coach of the year in the state.
