There are studies being done to follow what the long term effects will be. We've all heard it turns the alveoli to mush making it harder and harder as you age and the elasticity in your lungs weakens to push out mucus and other fluids. There are some medical opinions that it affects internal organs long term as well. AND there's no guarantee you won't get it again or that you will build up an immunity to protect you long term...sort of like the flu.
