An important issue for our AD ... find and hire the college basketball version of Billy Beane to overhaul the staff and roster.

I would be SHOCKED if we aren't using analytics to some extent. If they aren't, that's grounds for cutting ties alone IMO.

Almost every sports program across the country is using analytics now.
Problem for Pike is that there really aren't great analytics for defense

Obviously we don't know how extensive.
But we can guess.

Under the "tell me you don't fully utilize analytics without telling me you don't fully utilize analytics" hypothesis:

Surrounding 2 ball dominant superstars (Ace and Dylan) with terrible 3pt shooters who need the ball in their hands to be effective and can't play off-ball (JWill, Derkack and Davis).

That's about as "anti-analytics" as you can get in roster construction.

Hopefully the new AD knows a lot about marketing. When you go to stores and businesses around large universities, you see the school logo , hear/see the school’s athletics on the radio/TV, and promotions involving “the Official xyz of the university” are everywhere. I have no idea if our marketing people have a clue what to do promoting Rutgers sports. You would think they are marketing Fordham or Kutztown State instead of a Big Ten university with 70,000 students and 500,000 alumni.

You might have to start with a change of color(s). Scarlet is not a huge favorite of many when it comes to apparel and casual wear.

I never took marketing at Rutgers.

I know this is true and that colors matter.
But it makes no sense to me.
Just don't understand it.

Guess you’ve never been to Georgia. Wall to wall Red. It’s not about the colors it’s about winning. **** Baylor has some of the worst colors and they sell the shot out of their products.

That's the problem, the school itself has done such a bad job of historically marketing itself that it might as well be Fordham or Kutztown to the general public. It's never pushed itself heavily as the state university, and combine that with a general lack state pride by the population you end up with a heavily ignored university. The AD can market itself all it wants, but without putting out good product, casual fans are not going to be drawn in.

Wasnt your argument. You said it was the colors.

It’s more the ****** products offered in the stores and the historical ****** product on the field more than the color.

I didn’t say it was only colors. It’s not that simple.

So your big plan is to change the color scheme and magically it will transform our sports into a more interesting trending winner. How 'bout that Tennessee and Clemson fashionwear in bright orange!

It wasn’t a big plan and it wasn’t a simple fix. The discussion/topic was about marketing the program. Has very little to do with winning and losing. We know everyone loves everything about a winner.
