An 80 points per game scoring team

Early this season, I've heard Pike say he believes we are an 80 ppg team. The first time I heard it, I thought I misheard him. Then I heard him say it again... and again.

I couldn't believe it and still can't. Does RU look like vintage UNLV teams in practice? What makes him think we can score at such a high rate?

In games, many shots leave our guys' hands with little to no shot of going in. We attack the rim, but usually find ourselves in a position under the basket with slim odds of actually converting the shot.

Hopefully, we are still figuring things out, but after today's game, I have serious doubts.

I think he knew the team wasn’t as good defensively and they would need to score a lot more points. It sounded like he was taking to the team.

Ain’t happening with good teams, and with a center that can’t shoot

Pike says things.

You can’t score 80 if you can’t rebound…and this is the worst Pike-coached rebounding team I’ve seen…and our little guards don’t help. The only way a poor rebounding team scores 80 is if you give up 120.
We gave offensive rebounds in 40% of their misses and got offensive rebounds on 10%. You can’t win that way even forcing turnovers.

Pike needs to stop saying dumb **** like this before the season.

"We are a final four team". No we weren't

"We are an 80ppg team". We aren't even an NIT team this year. He needs to shut his mouth and coach.

Lol pre season Pikiell comments don’t hold any weight. “Pike says things”, lol. His other line is “This is the best division in country” when sometimes that is debatable. He says it every game, lol.

Also, Pikiell may have made a mistake not bringing in another healthy rebounder. There’s one on the bench, but Pikiell picked him and he is injured for the time being. I don’t think 20 mpg of AWill is going to cut it. Better hope our shooters hit..

We have a 6-9 scholarship sophomore on the bench who can shoot but can’t play the game.
Rebounding is instincts, desire, body and space awareness, it’s a knack for the most part.
If this could knew how to read the play and get himself in position to rebound, even if he couldn’t do anything else Pike would have him in there.
He will never play at Rutgers

I think it’s a combination of innate and effort but agree your comment. We don’t have a good rebounder on the team really. O is decent because of his size and length.

I’m getting tired of Pike’s pre game talk.
We can’t play at an 80 ppg pace, but for about 5 minutes

When Illinois went to the run, they scored. When we went to the rim, even ẅith advantage, we didn’t.
