When did the d League become the g league?
This past offseason. The ‘G’ in G-League is for a sponsorship they signed with Gatorade.

How's Patton progressing?A buddy of mine and I recently drove from Minneapolis down to Des Moines to catch an Iowa Wolves game. Both of us are Timberwolves fans and wanted to check out a G-League game as well as the Wolves first round pick Justin Patton, but as a Duke fan I was pumped to see Amile playing for them. We got 3rd row seats (cheap) and arrived ready to make some noise (tiki bar Fongs in Des Moines, not only strong drinks, but happy hour you get a free slice of pizza with every drink...what a time to be alive). I was wearing my Duke hat, yelled "AMILE!" and since G-League games attendance is light, he could hear me and gave me a chest pound in recognition.
That alone made my night, I was happy. But Amile is Amile.
He gets announced for the starting line up and comes running over right in front of us, and tosses both of us a couple Wolves tshirts. Duke kid taking care of a Duke fan. Loved it. He then went out and had something like 18-12. Playing really well overall for them.
I highly recommend catching a G-League game is you have an affiliate near you. As a college basketball fan you'll see a lot of names you know grinding and trying to reach their dreams and you get cool access you don't get at NBA games.

Thanks! In the game I saw he showed he definitely has a nice shooting stroke, knocking down some mid-range jumpers smoothly. He is really freaking tall. Needs to add strength and from what I saw, I wasn't impressed with his drive. His stats thus far in the G-League have been underwhelming, but not sure if his minutes (17 mpg) have been limited as they work him back from the injury. Talent is there, but I think we all knew he was a long term project. Which is fine for the Wolves with Taj, Towns, Gorgui (and now Amile!).
