Hey, he's getting paid to play ball and scouts are keeping an eye on him, things could certainly be worse. This path worked out for Quinn. Maybe Amile will be productive and get his shot too. At the very least, he could make a little scratch while traveling the world. There will be plenty of other opportunities for a proven leader and Duke grad should playing ball not work out. He is a success story any way you slice it. We love you, Amile.

Agree with everything you just said. The only thing I would say about Amile is I wish that during his 4+ years in Durham he would have learned to hit a 15-18 footer. This is the only area in my opinion that is holding him back. He has length and the athletic ability.

I agree with that. If he has it though, he will be able to use it in the NBA. On a much bigger scale, Elton Brand was able to use his mid range arsenal much more in the wide open space of the pro game. We did not see too much of it in the time he was at Duke. The college game is too congested and doesn't really leave a lot for the mid range game. Especially for the big fellas.

Thats the one area (in addition to free throws) that really needs work. Lance Thomas should be an inspiration to AJ! Best of luck to him! OFC

He probably had a much better mid range game than we ever saw. If Amile is shooting 18 footers when Luke could shoot a 21 footer....well I'm sure Coach K insisted on the latter of those 2 options.
I'm convinced that had Coach K asked him to develop that shot over an offseason he damn sure would have. Amile is a favorite.

Doubtful Amile has such a shot in his repertoire, just watching him shoot FTs over his career. I feel certain K would have liked to see him knock that shot down just to open it up more for our guys who could slash (be it Grayson, Jayson, Luke and Frank). I will agree though, if he's got a mid-range game "its better than what we saw," because we saw none of that from AJ during his career.

I love the guy- solid D on Frank The Tank preserved a natty, hustled, rebounded, developed a decent inside game, and I will say this: he had THE BEST shooting form and technique at the charity stripe I have ever seen for a bad foul shooter.
