Have been busy and am just getting caught up on this subject. Haven't read much of the other threads posted so if I'm duplicating, THE can do whatever he wants with this thread.

NY should be in serious mourning certain politicians and individuals forced Amazon to reverse their decision. I am not impressed with the Green New Deal even though I support Climate Change legislation and the US needs to move forward with the rest of the world in order to save the world. But it is junk legislation. AOC cheering the decision of Amazon pulling out and finding out how she has organized a fight against, I fully disagree. She has lost all respect from me and I doubt I will support anything she may do in the future due to the first two things she has been a part of as a Representative. I hope she gets beaten badly in 2020.

But AOC and I doubt anyone else cares about my opinion.

I saw last night that she thinks NYC now has $3bn sitting around to use on the subway system. :joy::joy::joy: As I've said dozens of times, she's a progressive version of Trump. Wildly ignorant with blind followers

AOC is basically a nothing as a danger to America with her political ideology and her beliefs. Trump is. But AOC is a huge threat in giving Trump and the party of Trump (formerly known as the GOP) the biggest gift possible in terms of politics and a bump leading into the next election.

3 Billion dollar tax break for Amazon? NY was going to pay double what Arlington, Va was offering in tax breaks and infrastructure

Amazon or not, I'd still bang her.

Will be interesting to see if she gets reelected in 2020.

Did she build the bar she worked in or was she just an employee?

Wait until you see how far left the democrat Presidential candidates go to appease your far left base.

Why do you think that is funny? I've seen area give up a lot and the business never materialized. Deshutes brewery just said they weren't coming after a full year of touting it. Land and tax incentives. Ukrops got a huge deal here and then left before fulfilling it's obligations. Government make really bad decisions when it comes to business.

It's not reality. Towns are desperate for commerce. People want to work.

When you give away more than you can bring in, it's bad deal. I understand what you are saying but at some point, you have to use common sense.

First the Amazon HQ was not going into AOC's district. Was she against it, yes, as was most NY'ers. I was a bad deal for New York City. It would cost jobs and the tax base. Why would you pay Amazon 3 billion dollars if you are New York City.

You're applying a level of absolutism. Are there cases where the deal is bad? Yes. It's based on the business though. That's all part of the CBA that needs to be done on an individual basis. You can't just say, "these are bad" or "these are good". I think I'm fairly safe in saying that in the case of Amazon, it would have likely been good for NYC. In the case of Bob's bargain tire emporium, it's probably not a good idea. The local city councils each need to do their homework and that includes everything from jobs, tax revenue from the jobs, local business economic impact on the community (Walmart vs local businesses) positive and negatives, B&O tax revenues from that business and those it would impact, environmental, adjacent business growth (all of the little shops and stores that would come from filling up a strip mall), construction and labor revenues, etc.

There are probably 100 other things I'm not thinking about, but 1 thing is abundantly clear, AOC is a fvcking maroon.

And by most, you mean 70% were in favor of it? right

Another Mensa candidate here.

How would it cost jobs?

Why would you pay Amazon 3 billion dollars if you are New York City.
Why do companies allow coupons? Have sales?

And FFS, NYC was not going to PAY Amazon $3bn

Otherwise stated, do not understand the concept of how businesses work in conjunction with government in this capitalistic environment.
Spoken by someone who has never run a business. I'm ok with incentives, but not when it's clear that there's no way it is going to work out. That's my business tax money being spent on pie in the sky relocation.

You sound like AOC.
Every large community has done it. maybe the smart thing would be to lower your taxes in an effort to get more business. Maybe NYC and NY in general should consider this. Anybody who thinks I sound like AOC should have their head removed from their ***.

Amazon tax bill = ZERO.......
What is your point? Do you not believe a company should be able to write off operating expenses, capital improvements, losses, etc? I’m betting, and just gonna go out on a limb here, you have no idea how to correlate Amazon not paying any taxes with it actually being a good economic indicator.
