Am I the only one who thinks the entire state championship venues and NC playoff formats are a joke?

The first round byes are stupid.
The 8 classifications are stupid.
The 6 rounds of playoffs is stupid.
The 3 days of state championship games is stupid.
The 20 dollar entry fees for state games are stupid.
And WORST of all, the venues are absolutely atrocious. Why are we having high school football games in 65,000 seat stadiums? Is it a law we have to have these games here every year? It looks so bad when the stadium is 10 percent full.
Why not have these games in smaller venues to give it a much better atmosphere? Imagine 13,000 people in a state championship game at Unc Charlotte that holds 15,000 people. Why not just have all the games at one stadium in one day? Or even 2? Do it at NC a&t or any number of centrally located smaller college stadiums.

It should be
Friday
1A state game at uncc 1 oclock
2a state game at uncc 6 o’clock

Saturday
3a state game at nc a&t 1 oclock
4 state game at nc a&t 6 o’clock

I’m watching this Robbinsville game right now that for some reason is being played on a Thursday in front of 117 people because everybody has to work tomorrow. Just awful all around

I agree with some but not other points. I think the venues should be smaller. I think the times could be better. I don’t mind the 8 classes or 6 rounds of playoffs personally. I think it matches school size better. Really helps the smaller 1a and smaller 4a schools in the old system. 6 would probably have been better. But 8 is better than 4. 6 rounds is a lot. But what’s wrong with more football? They need more smaller venues to not have to spread the games over 3 days.

In defense of the stadiums. Part of what makes the championships fun is playing in the big stadiums where the big guys played.

I agree about the first round byes, too many bad teams making playoffs, just bring back 11 regular season games and then 32 teams make playoffs instead of 48.

This. The #17 seeds in 5A went 4-6 and 3-7 in regular season. No need for those to be in playoffs.
