No bigger choke in Olympics history than Ilya Malinins performance! Can we make this the general Olympics thread? Didn't see one and the Paddock has been moved.
Stolz is the real deal, fast as heck. Love his training regime, too. Home built gym in a barn.
Lot of choking by some of our skiers though.. Definitely disappointed.
Ehh, pretty much the same thing happened to Nathan Chen at his first Olympics in 2018. He came back and dominated his way to gold in 2022.No bigger choke in Olympics history than Ilya Malinins performance!
I hope that happens as Ilia seems like a good person from a good family.Ehh, pretty much the same thing happened to Nathan Chen at his first Olympics in 2018. He came back and dominated his way to gold in 2022.
How are you watching it? I'm having a hard time keeping up with it all so I watch the night show and am trying to watch some full curling matches and of course hockey. I guess it gets easier to see eveything as it winds down.Ill be up in Lake placid the weekend after the Olympics is over. Bummer at the timing.. wpuld have loved to be there during the final few events and closing ceremonies.
The skiers who were in first and only had to finish 7th in singles was ridiculous as well. The female skier who hadn’t lost in like two years didn’t medal. No bigger choke in Olympics history than Ilya Malinins performance!

I really enjoy the dual moguls and the skeleton events this year. The camera drones have done wonders for some of these events.
Yep, and Mac Forehand got screwed out of gold as well. Announcers figured he won based on what they know about the scoring system. Nope, Silver. Only Olympian to land and 2160. But nope gold goes to the guy who did a 1620. Lol.
Sure seems like any event where there are judges, the US has to be markedly better to win. Cant just be a little better, or they will find ways to give the medals to anyone else.
Scoring with the goalie pulled was awesomeThe women's hockey ending was absolute insanity !!
Canada............LOL!!!Scoring with the goalie pulled was awesome
Liu and the Japense girl (Chiba) were fun to watch. So many dominant performances. I thought Shiffrins race was the best performance so far, but Alysa Liu's gold skating performance was unreal. The commentator said it perfectly: shes not performing out there, she's playing. It honestly looked effortless.
Its been awesome with all the snow coming down. A+ TV IMO.The craziest thing to me is these are like 5 minute routines. And you have an entirely unique dance for the entire time. Nothing looks duplicated or in any sort of pattern/rhythm. Just insane to remember that from start fo finish while throwing in extremely technical moves, on skates.
When people say the Olympics bore them, and especially the winter ones, I cant help but watch almost all of these events and enjoy it just for how tough these events are. I find it captivating TV just for the "how do they do this stuff?" Aspect .
I didn’t know that this is why she quit for two years.Another thought.. these olympics feel like they have more stars than in some of the past olympics. You have Alysa Lui who is bringing figure skating back, Stolz the quad god, Eileen Gu and Amber Glenn as sort of "heels" in these Olympics.. you got Lindsay Vonn's sad ending and Shiffrins return to Gold. And some lesser names but still dominant careers like Alex Hall and Chloe kim.
And those are just individuals.. theres gonna be more names to pop up when the team sports finish, like hockey and curling.
I don’t watch much skating, but Liu’s routine came through my feed. What a transcendent athlete to move at two speeds like that, dancing so gracefully while skating so fast. Just masterful. So many dominant performances. I thought Shiffrins race was the best performance so far, but Alysa Liu's gold skating performance was unreal. The commentator said it perfectly: shes not performing out there, she's playing. It honestly looked effortless.
Yup it’s good stuff and easy to spotKenny Albert has to have the best announcer voice in sports.
