Senior for Iona had zero scholarship offers. He's from Delaware. He a physical specimen. We have to be able to find a guy like that. We might not land the 5 star local talent, but we have to be able to find someone like English.

Our fans would kill any kid without offers because we're Rutgers fans and we know a good recruit when we see them. Lol

Who would coach and develop this unnamed, unrecruited physical specimen and turn him into a good college basketball player?

Rutgers has a roster of under the radar types currently and it isn't working out very well.

You have to remember that if you take one of these guys and he doesn't work out you're looking at him for 4 years if he wants to stay.

Rutgers isn't the type of Program where they'll let you run guys off.

If you think, after the bazillion transfers RU has had over the years, that they've never run players, you're fooling yourself.

Over the years, Rutgers has recruited under the radar players, not developed them, had bad seasons, and fired the coach. Then his successor would run off the players that never should have been recruited in the first place. The ones with potential transferred to programs where the coach actually had some clue about player development, and wound up being contributors on NCAA Tournament teams.

If you take 300 guys that have that profile, a couple will work out. Most will not.

Now list all the players with a similar profile who are not great players. Would be a long list.

Are you sure he had no scholarship offers? What I have been reading is that he was the #71 prospect his year from Rivals, plus his dad played for the Bullets for a couple of years, so I would doubt he had no other offers.

Best of Luck,
Groz

Groz, this article says he had multiple D1 offers but in the Class of 2011. I believe he ultimately ended up in the Class of 2012 so maybe the offers were yanked. Not sure.
