Wouldn’t surprise me if we are pulling in Slusher and a few other 4 star guys last second.

Weird, but maybe good?
I don't know how the real ins and outs of the commit process work, but perhaps his commit was contingent upon availability of a spot that closed up once the higher rated kids said yes.

that’s my guess too. Looking like he’s not no longer committed, maybe he got his offer pulled?

don't need that 2-star rating bringing our overall team ranking down LaughingLaughingLaughing I kid...sucks for some of these guys but that's the nature of the biz I suppose

Could be. I think I'm on record of not liking to see kids offers pulled, but if our coaches were always upfront about stuff, than if it was offered and pulled based on better commits than its ultimately a good thing for us.

I don't love seeing a kid get their offer pulled either, but I understand. The coach can't pull the "Yeah but I stayed loyal to the 2* kids who committed early" card if he's on the hot seat some years down the road.

It's a cold-blooded business at the end of the day and you better be a killer who signs killers. Plus if he's still working at it academically, they could always take him later when he gets his grades in order. There's no reason to lock up a spot today if he might not qualify.

I loved how the Bo (Darlington) and Frost had their "you committed to US we're committed to YOU" mantras.

That being said, I'm sorry but if we want to be like the big boys soon.....we gotta start acting like them and pull a David Copperfield on a recruit's *** every now n then! ‍♂️

No room for Aho. If he doesn't commit early, maybe something frees up in Feb.

Doesn't bother me. Recruits can decommit at any time. I don't see why coaches can't do the same.

Noticed Aho is no longer listed as a commit. Is he gone? Sorry if already discussed!
Frost did say that they made decisions on who to take and who not to take all the way up to signing day, and that character and fit were part of the equation. I'm not sure if Aho, Hodge, or Coates were a concern or not, but when given comparable choices between A, B or C... I would take a higher character kid who is a hard worker.

Kinda weird that both Aho and Hodge committed on the same day and in the end neither was given a scholarship.

I'm not a highly organized person, so the thought of trying to keep the recruiting process in some semblance of order seems impossible to me. From all the travel logistics, to the number of offers out (committable vs non-committable), grades, transfers, pulling offers, etc, etc. Good thing I'm not in charge, it'd be chaos.

plan Bs that didn't come in to play. I believe that their offers were premised with "depending on if we have room". It would have been nice to add Johnson to the linebacker class but I think he would have been one more than they were planning to take when it was all said and done. Interestingly I read an article on the Badger Rivals site breaking down their impact guys and then the guys they felt were undervalued and they didn't even mention Johnson.

If we noticed right, it seemed like Aho wasn’t committed anymore and shortly after Payne was and signed. I’m starting to wonder if Payne took Ahos spot?

Hard to say. Payne silently committed in early December, but still wanted to take another recruiting visit to NC State.
