Now that made me chuckle. I have NO idea what my wife weighs now in our late 60s but it sure isn't as easy as it used to be to lift her up. Some of that is my old man feebleness but there's no doubt that 3 kids and 47 years since I started dating her have added a little...... Her friend's say she's "tiny". I tell them it's the Spanx and that they should get their eyes checked. 5'11" (I'm shrinking) 175...

Mounjaro actually, believe it or not I wasn't diabetic (yet) Had a choice between the two, chose the Mounjaro because it's the better one between the two. My opinion and the clinical trials, play that out for % of total weight loss. Less issues or side effects, between the two. Personally, had very few issues with it at all. Lost about 1.5 lbs a week, nice and steady.

How heavy does one need to be to qualify for Mounjaro or is diabetes the requirement? When you were steadily losing about 1.5 lb/week, what did you observe different about your reduced caloric intake? Mostly quantity? Mostly food choices? Lack of alcoholic beverages? Was increased exercise a major factor? (I have had about 25 lbs of extra lard for decades and it never seems to change much up or down. I am 6’2” so that amount of extra weight isn’t real obvious but I of course see it every morning. 🤣I know some experts would maintain that even if I lost that extra 25, it would likely creep back since my weight has “stabilized” at that level for so many years.)

185 was doing good for last decade taking care of myself, but have added a few+ this winter/spring - too many opportunities to drink good, cheap craft beers of late --- damn that HyVee happy hour (among others).

When you were steadily losing about 1.5 lb/week, what did you observe different about your food intake? Mostly quantity? Mostly food choices? Was increased exercise a major factor? (I have had about 25 lbs of extra lard for decades and it never seems to change much up or down. Basically the drug slows down, how quickly your stomach will empty and come out in to the Missouri. So you feel, fuller longer and eat less. It can cut how much you eat by 1/2 easily, more in some people's cases (me). Not unusual, to only "GO" 2-3x a week.
I've had weight loss surgery as well, so I walked a bit of a fine line and had to prioritize protein. Lots of protein shakes for this guy ;) Some foods still go down easier than others, dense meats, starchy veggies, etc, fill you up fast. I wasn't great about it, but a heck of a lot better than I used to be. The battle is won and lost in the kitchen, it's gonna be what you eat, is 80% of it.
I exercised about 0 times, but I did 29 weeks of physical therapy last year, plus at home. So I certainly did put some work in, but not in the gym 5 days a weeks sense. Cardio is always good, but my understanding is resistance training is the best way to build muscle and it helps burn fat, aka higher metabolism.

I'll throw a couple other things at yeah. Low and slow, lowest dose as long as possible whilst the drug is working for you. Don't let a Dr, up your dosage to soon. Protein, Water and Magnesium Glycinate are your new friends. The drug actually does away with the food noise in your head. You eat lunch at work and your thinking about what you want for dinner, right? Wrong! I easily had 20+ days I forgot to eat, no BS. Somebody with a medical background will read this and think I'm full of it or understand it. The drug has muscle preserving properties to it. You wanna lose 25lbs, a 1/3 of that could easily be muscle if you lose really fast, don't eat enough protein, don't work out etc. I lost most of the weight years ago from weight loss surgery. I was 325lbs when I started taking the Mounjaro, I did 3 Dexa scans over 16 months I lost 125lbs in that time frame (sorry 1.95lbs a week) I went from 45% Body fat to 20% body fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle. It's normally kind of hard to lose just fat and build muscle, in the traditional eating, working out sense. My dr was certainly impressed, I did some good things yes. But the drug just worked that well for me.

You can gain the weight the back, if you go off of it, like any other diet you stop. This by far, is the best tool on the market for weight loss.

I don't mean to be a smart ***, but why didn't you just eat less and exercise more rather than turning to pharmaceuticals? Just curious

Sorry it was 1.95 lbs a week, my maff was off. If your Diabetic, insurance may cover it automatically. It's the bomb, for a couple people I've made believers out of. Statistically, diabetics only lose about 1/2 the weight %. Compared to people who take it just for weight loss.

Damn drug has 3 names, Mounjaro for Diabetes, Zepbound for weight loss, Clinical is Tirzepatide. All same thing, all same dose. I think BMI requirement is 30 now, I think they got it lowered a year or two ago. But if you have Co-morbidity, sleep apnea, high blood pressure makes it easier to qualify, if not diabetic. Didn't drink much at all on it, especially the higher doses. It kind of curtails, the bad habits or what we perceive as bad habits. It's actually helped people with various addictions and has some inflammation properties to it.

This stuff is very expensive, but they're making it more affordable by selling it in a vial now direct from Eli Lily.

Some long term studies say, that people who lost 100lbs or more and kept it off. For more than 10 years, is less than 10%. Your body wants to go back to it's previous weight, it remembers that. Eat less, exercise more is getting played out. Does it work absolutely, all the time no. I was fighting a losing battle and pushing 600lbs at one point. I had weight loss surgery and it worked great. Then I added another 150lbs back, like it was nothing. Taking a weekly shot, vs having a revision to my weight loss surgery. All of this on my own dime, easy choice.

Same thing goes for those medicines everyone is taking.. once you stop taking them the weight is coming back. The long term effects of those drugs aren't fully understood either. I understand being at 600lbs isn't healthy either and using the drug to get down to a 'healthier' weight is probably better, but don't say eat less and exercise more is played out LOL People are just lazy. You don't need a crazy exercise routine. Walk, walk, walk and eat healthier, satiating foods and you can lose weight

Low carbs high protein will keep you full and help maintain/lower weight. Eliminate gluten will reduce inflammation as well.
