We're just not built to blow people out...we could but there is a coaching philosophy to slow things down with about 5 minutes left in the 2nd half when we have decent leads instead of keeping the pedal to the floor. TU is one of the best conditioned teams in the conference. Heck both Temple and Houston seemed gassed in the 2nd half and we let Temple back in because we went to a slow down. The thing the 1999-2000 team did is when it sensed they were in position to go for the kill, they did, and it wasn't a slow drawn out death for the other team. Leads would go from 8 to 20 in 3-4 minutes fueled by monster runs, a step up in defense, and usually culminated with a Coley dunk. Maybe it's Haith's philosophy, but most of us on here have disagreed with it. This team is best in transition, pressuring on defense, and moving the ball on offense. Play to win the game versus playing not to lose. It's probably the biggest coaching mistake across the entire sports world, not just basketball.

BTW, if we are talking scoring margin per game...the only team that had a larger margin nationally than TU's in 1999-2000 was Duke. I think TU ended the season with a scoring margin close +16ppg. (5 losses, combined 13 points)

I will be very surprised if TU can pull the upset at SMU. However, I do think the game could go down to the wire, if TU can avoid leaving Milton wide open and Moore has a bad shooting night.

Question for the stats guys, what's the best fg % we have allowed the other team to make and still won this year?

I agree. SMU is a 10 point favorite. A win seem unlikely but it's really a must win for us to have any chance at an at large bid.

Didn't Juice hit 10 3's in the game at Moody last year? Seems to me we shoot well in that building for whatever reason.

Moore won't have an off night.
Shake might, but I don't think that would be enough.

Yes, rooting for UConn to come in confident to the TU game after a win.
And, must feel pity (tee hee) for Gonzaga going to Dallas to a p'od SMU team Saturday night - that will probably bring out other Big D gliterati such as current Dallas Cowboys. We need SMU to win although we hate to root for them. And Temple gets no. 1 Villanova at home as well. AAC can ensure multiple bids with those two Ws and maybe even with one of them (hint Ponies).
