Uconn ain't making it past Temple. Just because they were really on, and Houston was really off the other day, doesn't mean they have a real chance of doing it two weeks in a row against Temple. They'll find a spot for that eighth & nineth spoth if both us and E Carolina win, I think there is a secondary tie in with a bowl anyway. That might work out for a spot for an AAC team. i'm guessing it might just be eight in the end though

I saw something scroll across the CBS Sports Network that the NCAA football oversight committee meeting is scheduled tomorrow to discuss the possibility that there will not be enough teams with 6 wins to fill all bowl spots. Currently only 71 teams eligible to fill 80 spots.

I saw that too. So they are saying that there may not be enough teams to fill the 40 bowl games = 80 teams needed.

As far as I'm concerned if we can't beat Tulane, then we probably don't deserve a bowl since SMU crushed them yesterday. We have everything to play for so, if we give a maximum effort, we should win and get that bowl trip. It'll probably be in Florida. That would be a very nice trip for the kids.

Just to clarify, as of today, Cincy is 6-5. UCONN is 6-5. If Cincy is "IN", so is UCONN.
Tulsa is 5-6. We must beat Tulane to be 6-6. ECU is 5-6. They must beat Cincy to be 6-6.

If Tulsa & ECU both win & somehow there aren't enough slots for AAC teams, I think we would get left out. We will have lower computer ratings than (6-6) UCONN & we lost to both ECU & Cincy(6-6 teams). I think they'll find bowls for all of us IF that happens. First things first... BEAT TULANE!!

Our non conference schedule might help some with New Mexico bowl eligible and beating Boise, OU in the final four picture and FAU taking Fla to the wire. We also were in the AAC west which seemed to be tougher than the east. So if you look at the body of work and if the selectors are unbiased, I think we go bowling if we win Saturday. If that's not the case then there is something wrong with the process.

I don't think we'll get left out - there aren't enough bowl eligible teams to fill all the slots as it stands now, so if we make it to 6-6, we'll likely see a bowl. Even if all the AAC bowls are taken, we will likely get a bowl C-USA didn't fill.

actually getting a non-ACC bowl raises the possibility of a swamp. I would love a Heart of Dallas (Cotton Bowl) slot against a Big 10 average team. We could all drive to it.

I would assume that if we beat Tulane, we will go to Hawaii since we don't travel well anyway. In fact, that's a pretty nice carrot to dangle in front of a team just before kickoff for a group whose previous bowl destinations have been SMU, Memphis, and couch.

Any bowl is good...don't care where it is. 15 extra practices is always good when you are talking about a young team and new system. And it always looks good to recruits.

As for 6-6...almost assuredly in since there are several conferences struggling to fill their bowl slots right now. The B1G is one of them especially if they get a spot in the playoff. NCAA meeting soon to figure out the contingency plan...one of their criteria should be that all teams 6-6 and above are given a spot in a bowl game before any 5-7 team regardless of conference affiliation. Nebraska, unless it beats Iowa, will end at 5-7. Pretty sure the B1G was banking on them being a bowl team.

Heart of Dallas is a good possibility if the Big 12 doesn't have a team to fill their slot. The bowl committee will be looking for a team within reasonable driving distance as fans from other regions will have a difficult time making it to a game on the afternoon of 12/26.

I don't think anyone is assuming we will win. TU should win if they come out and play to their abilities. My bigger worry than the team coming out overconfident, is them coming out and playing tight knowing what is on the line.

I'd venture to say a reason we couldn't do it is because the wonderful citizens of Tulsa won't even support TU when we're winning 10-11 games per season. So I'm almost positive they wouldn't pay to see a MAC vs Sunbelt matchup.

In addition to the other points the sponsor has to get NCAA approval. After this year's challenge of finding enough teams that meet criteria doubt any new bowls get NCAA approval until others fold.

Most of the bowls are p5 vs p5 and g5 vs g5. It would be better if they were g5 vs p5. then we could get a better evaluation of the p5 also rans.
