This team may be a breath of fresh air, and there are far less attitudes on this team than we can remember, but the flaws were obvious. Stop blaming our inefficiencies on any single player and realize carter is our only deep threat. He has been ice cold or magma hot his whole career. A team cant rely on just one shooter and unfortunately one or two more is all we lack from being really good or close to great. This team will make the tourney, but as a true MSU team, they are missing something. We were in 96, and **** just happened, so lets hope for that....down vote away, We will have quite the winning record in the SEC, and I will take a bet or two on Auburn.

We'll be 3-6 after our first 9 conf games

We are currently 100 in the NET. And our ****** conference isn't going to give us many chances at marquee wins. Right now there are a whopping 3 SEC teams in the top 50. We are highly unlikely to make the tournament.

Woodard is shooting 53.6% from 3. What is the minimum number of attempts before you declare him a "deep threat?" Same with Stewart and his 42.1%?

Happens in every sport. For simple minds its always just a coach, quarterback, point guard, pitcher.

And you Inadvertently brought up a good point about the 96 team. It had 2-3 outside threats. 2 inside threats, one pure rebounder. Everyone played defense.

What makes a team really good is its diversity of roles.

That is to say success is never one person or position. Neither is failure.

I wanted so badly to believe in this team but yesterday about did me in. The poor effort for all but 10 minutes. The complete clulessness on offense. Just the sheer not fun part of watching them play. That game was the basketball equivalent of us losing to K-State in football. Just a gut punch.

NM State wanted the game to be ugly. They wanted it to be a low possession game. Very frustrating to me that we didn't do anything defensively to change the tempo, change the momentum, and get NM State out of their comfort zone. We basically let them dictate the game. I agree our intensity was not there for 40 minutes and we made some careless errors. Also, let's please stop playing games in Jackson.

But, I wouldn't write this team off yet. You have to factor in the challenge of integrating Nick back into the lineup. A lot of roles are changing. And we will have played just 4 games in 35 days by the time we play Kent State. That's going to effect your play.

We rank 335 in pace, behind NMSU. That's how we want to play, too.

We're certainly not playing up to our talent. But that also means that our best days are probably in front of us. I don't know that I saw this "poor effort" that you did. I just see a team that is missing shots and not really in sync, and it always seems like the other team hits a bunch of threes. I'm no basketball expert though, and the epitome of an MSU basketball fair weather fan.

This is what has frustrated me about Howland's teams for the last two seasons, now it looks like a 3rd. The other team dictates the pace most of the time, and we're stuck struggling trying to stay in games against mediocre opponents. We have 10 minute spurts to give us hope, only to be dashed. It sucks...But then I remember Rick Ray where we rarely had any hope at all and I fool myself into feeling a little better.

We have gone through this with almost every team we have had in December. We have had flashes of the team we all want but nothing consistent and the past game was even worse with Nick trying to fit in again.

We have talent so I am not writing them off until Feb. By that time you should be able to see who is who that is not a Duke or Kentucky.
