I did a version of this on intermat a while back. I thought the week of Thanksgiving would be a good time to dust this off.

As I am working to build an NCAA tournament results database with two other guys I have been staring at a lot of names. Sometimes you come across interesting ones, so I thought I would share. Think of it as an appetizer of Thanksgiving week.

  • Sneaky Best Wrestler Name - They were destined for this Gordon Roesler (Oklahoma 1956-1958) and Karl Roesler (Illinois 1996-1999)
  • A Boy Named Sue - I dare you to find out Scott Whimpey (Weber State 1971) and Dennis Whimpey (BYU 1975)
  • Middle Name? Pin - No need to look this up, I checked with his parents Mark Faller (Harvard 1970)
  • Last Name? Fall: - Again, I already checked Paul Pinnt (Colorado Mines 1959)
  • I Was Born To Be A Folkstyle Wrestler - Get comfortable on bottom, we are going to be here a while Donny Rider (Fresno State 1998)
  • I Always Get My Arm Raised: - All I do is.... Nathan Winner (Southern Oregon 1983-1984)
  • Dude Is Brutal - Its right there in the name Joel Savage (Utah 1976)
  • Me, Myself, and I - Am I seein' double? Nick Neville (Oklahoma 1985 - 1987) vs. Nick Nevills (PSU 2017-2018)
  • Wrestling Royalty - It's good to be the.... Matt King (Edinboro 1999-2004)
  • A Natural Born Politician - The ayes have it. Brandon and Brad Alderman (Wyoming 1996)
  • I Would Cross Plains, Rivers and Mountains To See This - I thought they would work together, but in 2003 Lewis defeated Clark (Tyrone Lewis decisioned John Clark in the 165 5th place match)
  • How Ya Doin? - Saul Goodman approves. John Allgood (Nebraska 1966)
