A Lot Left to Root For

Making the NCAA Tournament is a long shot for us at this point. It's not over, but we have plenty to be disappointed about. But there is a lot to root for. The program desperately needs to get some momentum in the second half of the season and get some big wins. If we don't, we need to worry about recruiting and losing kids to the transfer portal. If the team can turn it around and show player development, we can hold on to our quality pieces and have a shot in the portal and recruiting. If Pike completely loses momentum, we are looking at 3-5 years of unhappiness. If Pike can turn it around, we are only a player or two away from getting back on track.

So to my fellow die hards: time to shake off the disappointment of expectations that weren't met. Time to adopt the mentality of an underdog program in a rebuild mode. A lot still hangs in the balance.

I totally agree, it’s funny because Rutgers basketball hasn’t had any expectations for years so of course when we’ve been really solid and making the NCAA tournament last year of course we as fans aren’t used to having expectations for next year. Of course we’re used to the expectations going down since we’re talking about our Rutgers lmao but to be “lied” to by pike in the beginning saying it was our best team sorta made this year very exciting now than the last two.

It’s a long shot because we lost those early games and because we looked terrible in all of them. If we continue to play like we did against Clemson and pull out a top 6 B1G finish with 21+ wins, there’s no reason we can’t make the tourney.

I agree. That's a long shot, especially considering how we've been playing. Even playing well, a top 8 or 9 finish is more likely. But it's not over til it's over.

We needed those cupcake wins for a shot at the tourney. But if the team comes together we can still enjoy a good college ball season. I still want Geo and Ron to go out fully supported

No matter how bad we play we still get invited to the B1G tournament where anything can happen. If the season evolves in to the race for 10th place in B1G so that only 4 games need to be won so be it.

A finish in the top 8 of the big ten will carry more weight than a loss to Lafayette or UMass.

It can be done but it won't be easy
