Some time back someone posted conference standings using home/road results. Since break even is winning all home games and losing all road games a home win or a road loss are neutral. You get a +1 for a road win and a -1 for a home loss.

heading into today’s games here are standings based on this format.

Tulsa +2
Houston +2
Cincinnati +2
Wichita State +1
Memphis +1
SMU even
Tulane -1
UCONN -1
UCF -1
ECU -1
Temple -2
USF -2

I so want to grind it on Jolly, Chargois, and even Hunt with a big win. Prove to them that they made a bad decision, and we were lucky they decided not to come here. I don't want us losing another recruiting battle to them for a local star.

Yeah, this is huge. Was it 2 years ago, 3 maybe that we started on fire in conference and then completely fell apart. Every one of these high degree of difficulty wins makes me think maybe this team has that chemistry to figure out ways to win.

That year we started with a ton of easy game, ECU, USF, etc., this year we’ve beaten two of the teams picked as favorites and have another coming in next weekend. We’ll lose more games but I see us finishing near the top if we keep playing our game.

Yep, and the early schedule was tilted toward home games to get back to your initial post.

True, this year 4 of our first 7 have been on the road. We’ll flip back with these next two home games. The conference season will be half over after the next UConn game, that would be a good time to reflect and project.

With Rachel most likely out for some games, the +2 looks endangered for TU.

We need to take care of business vs USF and others but that SMU game is looking like a big one.

I think your list is a bit misleading as it doesn't account for the fact that we've played one fewer game than Houston or Cincy. Tulsa, Houston, and Cincy all have the same number of losses (a number of them to each other). Right now, we could be looking at three or 4 way tie for 1st at the end of the season if we beat Houston, but lose to SMU / WSU and Houston beats Cincinnati. SMU could sneak in there as well.

I don’t think it’s misleading at all. Every team plays 9 home games and 9 road games. You get a point for winning a road game and lose one for losing a home game. It’s pretty simple math.

But ever team hasn’t played an equal number of games yet. So the point totals don’t mean much yet.

It is as accurate as a golf leader board... not everyone has played the same number of holes but it is accurate.
From my point of view this is the perfect analogy. Winning at home or losing on the road is par while losing at home is a bogey and winning on the road is a birdie (no double bogeys or eagles allowed). Right now Houston and Cincinnati have the advantage but if they shoot par or bogey a hole on the back nine we have a shot. If we shoot par and they shoot par for the rest of the back nine we can’t catch them. It’s high score wins rather than low score though.

SMU has the easiest schedule left. They will be hard to keep out of the top 4.

Both are in essence putting a ball in a hoop.
Yeah, let’s take a game and get rid of the court and make it into a short hike (or car ride) also the defenders are now literal trees... oh, and you can’t touch the ball. You have to whack it with a stick like hockey.

To quote Robin Williams... “it’s enough to give you a stroke! That’s what we’ll call it! A stroke!”

Reminds me of Randy Quaid as the hockey goalie in Caddy Shack II.
As much as I love Caddyshack...Caddyshack II was an abomination. I always love that old commercial: "Best sports movie ever? Caddyshack. Worst sports movie ever: Caddyshack II"

Boy, you don’t update something for a few days and it ends up on page 2. Home teams have been winning so updates weren’t needed but this was road team weekend in the middle. If TU wins in Philly I’ll update one more time after the mid-week games.

Houston +4
Cincinnati +3
Tulsa +3
WSU +2
Memphis +1
SMU even
UConn even
USF -1

Before Aston gets pissy the reason we’re tied with Cincy in this version is because we have two road games to go while Houston and Cincy have a road game and a home game. In my mind that makes our road to the championship tougher. If we win out we will be +5 and if Houston wins out they will be +5, not confusing and it shows the importance of road wins.

Doesn't account for the strength of schedule that we all play Houston has some tough games still do come as do we. Cincy is pretty much assured 2 wins.

You totally miss the point of what I was doing. Either that or you’re more stubborn than any coach we’ve ever had.

Cinci is not assured of anything the way things have progressed this year.
