Will next season be the first time in TU b-ball history that the team will have zero returning letterman???

Did you go to any games this year? McWright played in 26 games and over 400 minutes. Not sure why you think they should deny his letter????

Went to all of them. However, by just playing playing a few minutes, does that constitute enough playing time to be considered to be a letterman. I do not know TU's requirement for a player to be considered a letterman.

He was 8th out of 13 players in playing time. And 400 minutes is not just a few.

We are one of the few teams where "he did nothing to make you notice him at all" is a compliment...

Honest question, is lettering still a thing? I vaguely remember it being a big deal in smaller HSs around Tulsa when I was in HS in the early 2000s. But I don’t really remember it ever being mentioned while I was at TU. Some players had letterman jackets but I never knew how they were “earned.”

It varies by sport, last I saw the standards. Basically it’s participate in at least one play in one half of the quarters during the regular season for football. So in theory you could play 25 plays or more and letter, if you are academically eligible at the end of the academic year. The head coach can waive those requirements. For basketball it’s based on minutes played and don’t know the exact amount.

The benefits are substantial. Letterwinner’s can pay $500 spread out over two years and receive season tickets at half price for life and access to the Letterman’s Suite for life. There are other perks.

I don’t know what it is today in either sport. In football when there was an 11 game schedule in the 70s and early 80s you had to play in 16 of the 44 quarters (>35% of the season) to Letter. Also as Huffy points out it is now Letter Winners.

Too bad you can't letter in drinking till you puke. I'd have access to that suite for life. Tho probably not the nicest suite.
