Who are we thinking will represent the east and the west. Hunt, NS-Jax, and St.Pauls are my contenders in the east. Hickory, East Lincoln and Crest are my contenders in the west. A few surprise teams people aren’t talking about are Monroe and Havelock
Id be shocked if EL, Hickory or Crest didnt represent the West.

oh yeah I forgot, oh well can't stir that pot.

hmmm then again if Crest wins out, and Ashbrook wins out then Ashboork can be considered 5A and 6A champions.
By this rational .... they should be considered the 5a/6a champs..... as well as the Gaston, Rutherford, Cleveland, Polk, Lincoln, and maybe a couple upstate SC county champs too. No respect given to the recruiters of HS football. Just means you didn't have enough in your own pants to get it done.
If Ashbrook has a set ..... they will go schedule OTHER schools that also recruit in non conference play. The big private schools in Charlotte, Dudley, ETC.
Crest doing the same thing....but at least Crest has a set. Scheduled Weddington. We see how that went, though.

I would love to see a Watauga vs Ashbrook matchup with game being played up in Watauga. And seeing some wind snow to go with it. Not that that would a difference in the game but just be able see some snow while game is being played. If they do play each other that one definitely be on my list to go to.

Ashbrook played up there a few years ago and you could tell they were ready to get back on the bus. Im sure this Ashbrook team would put up more of a fight.

The last big snow game in Boone was one of the Guilford schools. The sleet and snow was just pouring down, field was white. In between plays, they were all huddled around space heaters on the sideline, while Wataugas players were wearing short sleeves lol.

We used to hustle inside real quick for those basketball trips. See kids walking around in shorts for Watauga. Built tough up that way.

With the brackets pretty much already set I believe Havlock and N.E. Guilford or St.Pauls play for an Eastern regional title. Southern Nash could take Hunt down in the second round for a rematch of a conference rivalry game. Also Rocky Mount could control the clock and grind down N.E. Guilford. But I do believe the three best defenses in 5A East are one of those three schools in Halock NE G and SP

In 2003 number 1 Asheville played number 2 south point in asheville in the fourth round. We had whiteout conditions and you couldn’t see the lines on the field there was so much snow. We welcomed the snow. A lot of our guys didn’t wear sleeves. We were mountain boys. They were from Gaston county and they weren’t used to the cold and snow. A big advantage for us.

they beat the hell out of us

Havelock is 5 and 5 with a 1 point win over Dixon. I can not see them as a contender.

I was at that game. One of the coolest games I’ve been to. Couldn’t even see the Asheville stands from the SP side. It was a beat down but man it was one to remember.

I was at that game also, could not see Asheville side at all. That 2003 team was very good. Lost to Northwestern first game of season and did not lose again.
