MSU makes it hard to defend the 3 -- #5 was leading the nation at 50% coming in and MSU was leading the nation as a team at 44% coming in. #5 was just tremendous as far as the quickness of his release -- he was not getting an unusual amount of separation coming off the screens, he just needs very little room. In transition he just can stop on a dime and release the ball like no one I have seen. I was talking to Dick Lloyd about him after the game and Lloyd was amazed at how easily he scored while the defense was not that bad.

Northwestern made 17-28 three's on Saturday. Sorry, there is no excuse. It's EJ's calling card

Well tonight was not NW -- if you do not think that #5, the best 3 pt shooter in the country, was extraordinary given the amount of daylight he had, than you were not watching the game.

when you don't guard the best 3 point shooters in the country, they are going to make them...under Eddie they don't guard the 3 whether its the best player in the country or Central Arkansas

Was mistake having Sanders guard Forbes in 2nd half..Forbes was making all his threes anyway, and it tired out Sanders for offensive production. Also He hadn't played in 4 games..

This is a reasonable point, although they did switch this around a bit. Knowledgeable observers agreed that he was reasonably well covered, but just was able to score anyway, so maybe it would have been better to keep Sanders on #45 in the second half. However, I think that Sanders expended a lot of energy on offense driving the lane with a ton of contact in the second half. He expected to get to the line a lot more but the refs were letting both teams play physical.

One more point on Forbes. After he went 11 for 16 on three-point shots against Rutgers I checked to see how many of his previous 16 three point shots he had made. The answer is 11, seven for 10 in one game and four for six in another.

all-time B1G record for 3's made in a single game tonight for Forbes with 11...unreal...:scream:

and Izzo did EJ a favor and sat the guy for the last 6-7 mins right after he got the record. Could easily been 13-14 at the pace he was on...

If I am not mistaken the record was eight and he ended up with 11, so he certainly did not sit him right after he got the record.

We allowed him to get off 16 three pointers in 30 minutes of play - pretty awful effort

Ninety nine points the last two games by opponents on 3 pointers has to be a NCAA record .I wonder how many 3 pointers Rutgers has made for the entire season ?

well you are. go to the link I provided in the other thread from the AP:

"Forbes' 11th 3-pointer came on a fadeaway and it broke the single-game record of 10 set by John Diebler of Ohio State against Penn State in 2011."
