Don’t look now, but we are now shooting 33% from 3-point range on the year (60-181). In the last four games, we’ve shot:

6-20
6-13
7-22
12-24

Most of these shots have been within the offense, with only a couple each game where you’re scratching your head (like that awful Simpson shot last night).

Things trending in the right direction with this hugely important metric.

We have 5 out of 9 games with Gavin Griffiths hitting at least 2 3s.....

We have 7 out of 9 games with Fernandes with at least 1 3 pointer......Noah is 19 for his last 19 from the FT line.

We have 8 out of 9 games with Hyatt hitting at least 1 3 pointer......he went 0-1 from 3 vs Princeton, so he's hit a 3 in all 8 games since.

We have Davis hitting 4 of his last 6 3 point attempts.....he is 4 of 10 from 3 for the season.

We have Simpson shooting 6 of 13 from 3 for the season.

We have Oskar shooting 5 of 13 from 3 for the season.

It's a small sample size and 9 games, but we are not appearing to rely on just Gavin and Hyatt.

It also appears that despite the staff getting a lot of criticism about offense, other than a couple of 3s forced by Hyatt and Gavin (which I am willing to live with), the others seem to be taking what is within the flow of the game. Which is what is exactly what the OP mentions above.

Teams that play us, will adjust and then it will be up to RU to adjust again. So far, it is not just a 1 man show, which makes it tougher for opponents.

I don’t remember Simpson “awful” shot but he is leading the team at 45.6%. Hyatt and Cliff must be happy to see everyone picking on Derek today lmao. Dumbasses (not you the board as a collective)..

Gavin took the worst 3 of the night after an Offensive rebound with 90 seconds left and I believe a 6 point lead. He probably has the green light any time he’s open and he was WIDE open but that’s just a rookie mistake he will learn from. I personally want him to shoot all game long but not in that spot.

The announcer made a good point about RU setting up 3’s by heading inside and kicking out instead of just passing around the horn. I also noticed much more movement and screens from everyone and not just Cliff or Wolf setting screens. It looked better and we made our shots. Win win. .

We have more capable 3 point shooters than ever before which is probably why Pike thought this could be an 80 point team. Rutgers did a better job of movement and penetrating and dishing which was great to see. A lot of open high quality 3 point attempts in rhythm

If Simpson and Davis can keep hitting the 3 at a high rate, that would be extremely bullish for the season outlook. Neither were really expected to be excellent 3 point shooters this season, but if they can be at least solid that's huge. Both off to impressive starts but we will see what it looks like over the course of the season I believe Davis actually shot a good percentage from 3 in HS, but we heard a lot of reports that his outside shot was a work in progress coming into the season

Noah Oskar and Gavin all should be very good 3 point shooters with Noah and Oskar's career percentages and Griffiths pedigree. Hyatt hopefully can shoot more like 35% this season and have a career year with improved shot selection. Mag was already solid and coming on strong last year as a 3 point shooter and should be at least decent.... Really only players who we don't want taking 3's are Cliff and Wolf
