2025 Stadium Operations Observations and Suggestions

Watched it on TV, the scoreboard was ridiculously loud once again.
Like many have mentioned, it's identical to PSU's in game production

I actually now listen to other team's scoreboard volumes, songs and 3rd down announcements when watching on tv, or in person
Most of the 3rd down calls are super cringe (to quote my daughter), and rarely does any school let the band play as often as they should

I just rewatched our 4th qtr of the Maryland game…at the point where we were at the end of the game and they were reviewing the spot of the ball and tge Greg called a timeout- the music was so loud it was actually making it difficult to hear the TV announcers

PJ is great and deserved the big promotion. He gets credit for the Boardwalk, but his game production is horrific. As someone mentioned, if you go to or watch a PSU home game and a Rutgers game, they sound nearly identical except for the lion roar, but remember when PJ slipped a few lion roars in at Rutgers early in his tenure?

All I know is I don’t remember ever having the music so loud on the broadcast. It had to be a nightmare in the stadium.
it seems like PJ got the outside of the stadium going well but the stadium experience- it is just too much and easy to fix

Funny, I was searching for the New Music thread, and found this from 2021, which is when he started:

Well, I can’t believe it. New hire for our Director of Fan Experience and it’s … someone from MICHIGAN … puking looking at all the apologetic tweets filled with maize and blue. Then, I thought hmmm, maybe it’s not that bad, maybe he actually went to some neutral school like Virginia or something...

PJ Mullen - Forums

It's one thing to draw a paycheck from Rutgers for game presentation, do things 99% of fans despise, and not be a fan. It's quite another to rub it in those fans faces. Seriously? Laugh at us and say thanks in a DM or a private email.

This is when the problems started with the loud music, right after PJ was hired and made the RU game day environment like Penn State's:

I've been to about 90% of Rutgers' home games since 1950. A lot of us (VERY) long-time fans and RU donors (and others) HATE the music and its absurd volume. It prevents discussion of the game between plays. We're there to see and talk about the game, not to hear truly painfully loud "music"...

Yep fan experience and game day production immediately went downhill once he was hired. From team entrance to incessant noise and in game production. Can’t remember a game since PJ has been in charge where there hasn’t been a noticeable programming mishap. Joe Nolan was serviceable up to the introduction of PJ. When PJ became his boss he has become outright unbearable.

I don’t understand why so many schools have gone away from just the college experience- I don’t expect just a marching band and Pom poms but it isn’t difficult to just create a great experience

No Sopranos video for the team entrance and no cell service much of the game. Fix this already. Nice touch with all the Christmas music and theme.

I couldn't get to my actual seat in 131 which is the norm for big games, so we took a few empty seats in the row in front of me. It doesn't really bother me, but there was almost a fight a couple rows behind me late in the 1st quarter when a Penn State fan was sitting in someone's seat and took offense to the way the seat owner told him to move. After things settled down, the Penn State fan ended up moving up a row to my actual seat, which had apparently been vacated at some point in the 1st quarter. He then asked me if these seats were assigned, so I politely told him, "Yeah you're actually in my seat now." He said he didn't know and that his son was a student and told him that the section was general admission. There seems to be a lack of informing the students where the student section ends, and I'm sure it looks like that whole addition is the student section because of the wall being between 131 and 130 rather than between 131 and 132.

I witnessed another few near-confrontations in line for the men's room behind 131 during halftime. Of course there was a long line since there are only four urinals and 12 sinks (does anyone know if there's a reason for this?), so some people were cutting through the line and going into the bathroom from the exit. A couple guys in the line were trying to stop others from cutting, but some of the line-cutters didn't listen.

Restrooms! They need to solve the rest room issue inside the stadium for the big turnout games. Last night the lines were unacceptable in a modern college stadium.
