On Twitter Matt Agnoli also mentioned Kyle Hicks as one to watch.

The 3 targets for 2022 naming Rutgers hardly have attracted upper tier schools.

Not exactly a strategy for continued success in the B1G. Hopefully my worry-prone inner bear cub is just needlessly acting up.

I know no one is going to be happy with this but Pikiell has said it from day 1. It was literally his mission statement. He wants to find under recruited kids and build them up. He tends to focus in on one big time recruit and look to fill it in with guys he can develop.

Not saying we won’t get decent replacement players either from the portal or high school but it does appear odd we are not having much luck on both those fronts. Would hope to see a commit or transfer by month’s end.

2022 recruiting class seemed crucial- bc everyone who got us here will be gone.. No Armstrong, no Floyd - probably give our 2022 Schollys to a few more Jalen Miller & Dean Reibers type prospects. Hopefully Pike keeps workin magic developing

Risky with transfer portal. Get an under recruited player, build him up, enters the portal. He is gone. See EO

Pierre from Elizabeth can ball. He runs Lutheran they are always a top team. With Miller and Pierre we are set at the point foryears. We need an intimidator at the four that can play inside out. Jones can back up at the one or two but looks to be the heir apparent to RHJ. Cliff Wiz is our 5 and he will surprise you this year. I’ve watched him since he arrived at RC 5 years ago and he is more athletic than Jammin James. He has worked on his short jumper and showed it several times this past year. He needs a drop step, a spin move and the ability to take a big off the dribble. We have him for two more years.

Hey so far there’s not much of a reason to not trust the staff, and I like this post, but the lack Of big-time offers for these three guys just frightens me

That strategy worked for building a program but won't sustain success in the B1G.What is needed is recruiting players that are better than on the current roster.Player development can only take Rutgers so far.Uconn under Calhoun made the major jump in national status when elite recruits were on the squad.

Again it has worked for Wisconsin for decades

I think the transfer portal is a risk with every kind of player. See the women’s team.

For sure but bigger recruits at least may give you a year or two of contributing more. And big recruits generally lead to other big recruits.

One thing to remember is Rutgers works pretty secretly when it comes to recruiting, I’m sure they are making progress and doing a lot behind the scenes. Just wanna say I think Hicks is def someone RU is targeting and from watching tape, I like his game a bunch. Also, it seems we might be looking to make a splash in the ‘23 class, got in early with a ton of promising guys, especially in the metro area. I don’t think the future is as bleak as some posters think it is.

Especially when you now have the additional variable of more players leaving the program through the portal. Pike needs to hire a big time recruiter and an offensive coach yesterday.

Your right I am not happy with the statement. Shouldn't we expect the recent success, improved practice facilities and a raucous RAC to result in more highly regarded recruits?

We shouldn’t expect it if that’s not Pikiell’s plan

So is your theory that Pikiell can get recruits the other BIG schools are after but he is choosing to pass on those players for guys that don't have a lot of offers?

Not exactly. My thought is Pikiell is more about recruiting the right fits to the program. He will go after a top guy if he thinks he fits and he can get him like Cliff or Jaden Jones. But I don’t think he will chase a player just because of starsZ. I think we are going to be more of a Wisconsin type program where we land 3 and lower 4 stars and develop them. We recruited
Floyd and Armstrong but we also have other lower ranked targets we think will be good players. We aren’t just going to pivot to the next top player.
