Country Day is a big rivalry with the Cook Cup as is South Meck being literally next door but neither is up to the needed level in recent years. Wish that was Myers Park and Christian. Hard to make it perfect for us fans. Like seeing Catholic matchup with some out of state Parochial schools. Keep it up!

So @CatholicCougs14 how do you feel about the schedule? I don’t really know anything about the two Catholic schools on the schedule other than what Maxpreps tell me. What was the motivation to play those teams instead of others?

Sad to see Christian off the schedule. Those games are always good.

Brodowicz wants to start playing at least one regional power a year. Ones we haven’t played before. They are other Catholic schools and have the funds to travel and such.
Also helps give kids experiences they wouldn’t have. Christian was great, but these games will test Catholic on the same level if not higher.

Also I dont see any real noteable teams from SC or Charlotte on your schedule. Before you talk trash about us scheduling big games maybe you should schedule Christian and watch them drag you around for three hours.
CC14 I think the KM community would welcome the chance to play the unbeatable cougars on the mountaineers home field, even knowing that they have no chance of beating the best team in the state.

As expected, I see you are still writing checks you can not cash. Maybe if you work really hard to become a more enlighten individual then just maybe your dream may come true! IN the meantime you will just have to live with you incorrect predictions for HUSS and KM. HEY YOU DID ACTUALLY SCORE.

Bwaahahahahaha.....see you’re still working that snot rag hard Mountie. Has it helped coping with the 30-7 fanny spanking you were handed at storied Keffer Stadium home of six time state champion Charlotte Catholic? If I’m not mistaken(and I’m not) I believe KM is the lone program with no football title in Cleveland County. I know you’ll work hard in 2019 to change this fact.

Good luck with that, you’ll certainly need it. Happy New Year.

Nothing but RESPECT for CC to step out of state and play powerhouse programs. Now you leave no question on how good you are. Nothing nobody can say now if you win! Good luck.

McCoy up and scheduled Christian or vice versa for the first game of the season.....uggg...don't Kno about that one. Guess he wants his teams to grow in the competitive dogfights but Catholic and Christian are big dogs. My thinking is if I want to grow and gain confidence then I would sched a non- conf game with a tough team that I believed I could actually beat...starting the season in the woodshed is not a good start in my opinion...

That is correct. Christian’s week 1 is Aug 16, NCHSAA week 1 is Aug 23. Catholic’s game with Country Day is in limbo due to it.

Coach, is there not an Friday in there? The first Friday last season was August 17. I’m confused.
NCISAA first game is Aug 16, we start on 23(I think). NCISAA is starting practice a week earlier than all other associations. Country Day has already lost their week 1 game with Hammond over it.

In recent years the NCHSAA has started official practice on the Monday prior to August 1. But this year August 1 falls on Thursday and so I guess that’s why it was decided to just wait to start official practice then. That pushed Week 1 back to August 23. December 1 falling on Sunday also probably played a part in the scheduling too. Most of the state championship games are usually the second Saturday in December which is the 14th this year.

Catholic will lose to Good Counsel, Weddington, and possibly one more. Not what they were last year.

They CC lost some big time talent from their DL. However, they have talent returning and they are extremely well coached. They will be tough to beat, but I also think they take a small step back

Don’t think that is an intriguing matchup at this time. Catholic can probably find thirty or more teams closer to Catholic that are equal or better than Christ School. May be one day but with the available competition to Columbia, Spartanburg, and all around Charlotte it is not a big deal.

They're not even a blip on the Cougar radar. Look at our schedule, those two OOS games are way better than Christ School.
Christ School does nothing for Catholic.

I agree. On the 1a board I was told Christ School is quickly becoming the top school in NC for football. I laughed. But just needed confirmation, they're nowhere near the top 20 in the state

Look Coug no hard feelings but CC can't win every year. Good Counsel has more athletes and Weddington at home. Face it man you guys will probably win state will two loses. CC lost some good kids, it is what it is

Wham, I know but I still have to throw a brick here and there. This year will be different for Catholic. Two big out of state games with Catholic schools that are built more like Butler/Creek than built like Catholic.
Weddington has developed into a rivalry across all sports for Catholic so I think it'll be close and who knows. I'm excited to start our summer weightlifting next week and get into the homestretch before we start camp.
I will say if I had to pick one of the two out of state teams that we can beat I think we can get Rummel at home, Good Counsel will be very tough, but who knows. Any given Friday ;)

I never count out Catholic especially teams that play them and are not familiar with them. Counsel and Rummel will under estimate them when they watch film and see them in warmups but then will find themselves in a dogfight. They will look for the 4 and 5 star kids and when they dont see them they will think they win in a walk.

Wham you are right you can not win every year BUT.... many said the same thing when Gozanga came to town a few years ago. We did not match up with them and they are well coached. Somehow we won. The difference is much closer with Good counsel. Kinda of like when we had to go play HUSS and all of the D1 talent and the greatest defense of all time and we all know how that game went. I was not all that confident in the new schedule but since you made the prediction against us the chances are probably much better for us. I just have to wonder if you really like stating things where you are 100% certain for something you know so little about.

Remember watching warm ups for CC versus Gonzaga. Was sure Gonzaga would win by 3 TDs. Hood was the only kid on Catholic who would have started for Gonzaga. Early on CC looked over matched but as the game wore on Gonzaga started to tire and just the drum beat of good tackling and execution took over. That was the night I figured out Catholic was just a different animal

Gonzaga had also never seen a lead before. They had not seen smash mouth, power football like Catholic played.
