I'm sure we'll make an attempt, but this is a recruit that followed Kevin Stallings from Vanderbilt to Pitt. Knight doesn't have a pre-existing relationship here.

Still... it's late in the game, we might be able to get in it, and I think a lot of his other previous choices are already full up.

This kid looks sweet. Would be a great get along with the ohio big man for 2018. Throw in Peter Kiss and a few others and we could start to rock and roll.

It's really going to happen. Just watch.

Yes we could use a point guard but we already have Sanders, Souf and Baker who can play point. We need a shooter and a big guy first.

I'm here at UAA event, Pikiel here, and talked to someone about this kid likely headed back to Virginia area.

VCU could be a player here.

There's a big difference between must, can and should.

Souf must play PG, because it is his only position. Sanders should play PG, because he isn't a great shooter but once he figures out a couple of things re ball security / decision-making he has all-conf ability. If we can get this type of kid straight out of h.s., the entire roster is improved immediately.

Baker's minutes should come from where his strengths align most directly with our biggest weakness - shooting guard/wing. He can play spot-duty at PG or develop into a more "lead guard" type of role, but I think that needs to be evaluated once he's practicing on a daily basis vs. high major guards.

Rivals gave him three stars and Scout gave him four (as 27th best PG in the class), so he is good.

Fairfax, Va is about four hours away. I wonder if that counts as being close to home.

These guys are aware of every opportunity out there through previous contact or AAU mentors
When they are back in play they know exactly who is going to be reaching out to them and who the best fit would be. We should be a perfect suitor because of defections and our conference affiliation but will he come here.? Why not? But history says prolly not.

The exact same thing can be said for the school to the north. SHU has no real PG for next season.

Actually, I wasn't comparing programs. I was just saying SHU seems to have a problem giving that PG slot away.

They lost a kid ranked by many the # 1 PG in the country to Duke .

That's something of an overstatement IMO.

Well they haven't lost him yet as there has been no official announcement, but I think I hear the dirt being thrown on the coffin.

It is simple. When you live by the sword, you die by the sword. They swung for the fence, and in a case like in this case it scares off other recruits that play the same position.

We need a shooter and a big guy more, does mean you don't take a good PG if one comes available. Sanders is probably gone after a season and Baker is more of a combo guard.

You can play and win with combos. It's just a different set up. Plenty of teams do it.

A true pg makes it easier, but it is not the end all by all. I tend to favor a true point guard.

Baker sees the floor well. He has a shooters mindset though, and that is something the team absolutely needs.

There was a team in the SEC about ten years ago (it might have been South Carolina) that did real well playing three combo guards along with two mobile power forwards. All three combos were all around 6'3" or 6'4".
