How does Mount Airy win and drop two spots and PLP jumped from 20 last week to take Mount Airy's spot at 10 from week 5 to week 6. MaxPrep MA them at 8 & PLP @ 12... Can anyone remember a team jumping 10 spots before. How many of the 10 through 19 lost this past week. Strange year for polls. Sorry, but it doesn't make sense to me, of course, I'm not an expert, just an observer !

Nice comparison Old Mountaineer but while it is nice to see, No way Mitchell should be ahead of Tarboro, and Robbinsville at 6 is a joke. They should be top 2. Afraid we will see Polk is too low in both polls. I think they are underrated.

I agree, I would probably go with NC prep more on the top 5. I was surprised when Mitchell went to #1 a couple weeks ago on Maxpreps. When looking at the two we need to remember Maxpreps is a computer algorithm no human opinions just wins , strength of schedule etc. So the I assume one thing they show on their list may be the difference at the top is strength of schedule it has Mitchell (5.2) Tarboro (-10.7)

So far Mitchell home games have been on YouTube @ Mitchell Athletics. No quality is NOT good, for the first game, and was told Heritage wasn’t either. But better than nothing and no announcers. Just speakers which pick up some crowd noise and stadium announcer.

The best quality I've seen so far is Smokey Mtn though the announcers got on my nerves. But I really appreciate Mitchell having a free youtube broadcast looks like more schools could do that.
I don't mind Mitchell's not having announcers and the view is about the same a my usual spot on top in my camper chair , my only issue with the video is that I don't know if it's someone operating the camera or if it's on some kinda auto system where the camera follows motion or something but how ever it's being operated you couldn't follow a pass by the time the camera got were the receiver was the play was over, so sometimes in that case I'd turn on the radio to get their take on the play they're about one to two plays behind the live stream. I hate I won't be able to watch the Avery game and have to depend on the radio.
Alleghany YouTube's there home games....elkin and ashe county's games are on nfhsnetwork(not sure how much$ it costs)
Everyone Mount Airy has played has won 2, 3, or 4 games. 4 wins being Pisgah who was behind MA 20-21 and scored and went for 2 point conversion in the last minutes of the game to win 28-21. Who has PLP played that is better than Mount Airy's schedule, not saying MA has a tougher schedule but that what it is every year and MA seems to stay in the top 10 years in year out?
Here is the record of the 5 teams Pine Lakes Prep beat to jump 10 spots in the Poll. I say WSPrep beats all these teams below and maybe 1 or 2 other NWC teams could beat 3 or more of them..

This is one were I would agree more with Maxpreps rankings and where strength of schedule definitely should have a role in rankings. Mt Airy str is (-10.8) Pine Lake's is (-30)
Northwest is a weak conference , I think east surry actually had 2 stout teams to play in north Davidson and Reidsville I think east should be around 3 tarboro Mitchell East as of now , a lot of posters that are not local believe a lot of hype that ma is strong , they are consistently a 12 13 rank imo
NWC is weak but Mount Airy & East Surry have been scheduling their 6 non-conference games against stronger teams which have kept them in the top 10.
I know that was a good game ma vs pisgah but pisgah is not a Reidsville and appear not as strong as people talked I see north Davidson ranked six in 2 a I think my airy should have kept Reidsville and even a 3 a , but with this covid I’m sure scheduling was difficult if they take into consideration good wins as far as ranking then they have ranking wrong, I saw east surry at 6 with a loss to Reidsville in which they scored the only points Reidsville has allowed all season and a win over north Davidson now at 6 in 2a, then you have tarboro in which my opinion should always be 1 or 2 , then Mitchell is atop the list with a win over heritage now ranked 20 in 2a ,rankings are crazy , I think those top 5 are correct but not that order, max preps rankings seem to be consistent or at least someone there sees football as u should
Well my point was in just as a comparison of Mt Airy to the Pine Lake I would rank them a little higher due to slightly better competition. Both the Northwest and Southern Piedmont teams are hard to tell how good they are with the type of teams they're beating. Outside of playing each other the best team record that Thomas Jefferson or CSD has beaten is 2-3 the rest are 1-4 and 0-4 teams. East Surry did play Reidsville but that didn't turn out well.
I was wrong about max preps too lol just looked they are a joke too with rankings East or tarboro not at 1 but Mitchell with their best win over a 20 rank team in 2a and no way robbbnsville is that far down I think by the talk I hear it’s tarboro 1 east surry 2 robbinsville 3 Murphy 4 Mitchell 5
The score was not impressive vs Reidsville for sure East came out very slow but moved the ball larer in the game I think east defense played well larer in that game but it was too late slow out of the gate or not Reidsville was very good last season but that team is hitting on every cylinder possible now I called Reidsville winning 2a title last season even after that loss to east and I’ll say again Reidsville hangs another banner
Doing the polls has to be tough but jumping a team with a poor schedule like Pine Lakes Prep from 20 to 10, I think someone on a short deadline made a mistake. I've said enough, I don't want to run it in the ground no more than I have. Sorry if I did not agree with the PLP jump 10 spots but just my opinion and we all can have our opinions and not all agree at times.
I agree Mitchell probably shouldn't be at #1 but one correction I will make the as far as beating ranked higher conference teams Mitchell would be 2A Mtn heritage @ #20 NC prep #12 Maxpreps and 3A Statesville while not ranked in the top 20 in NC prep is #18 in the Maxpreps.
They might I wouldn't rule out Shelby though they've played a harder schedule and though lost one game it was to a very good 3A MP #2 or NCP #6 Kings Mtn only by 1 . Would be a good game.
I don't know if I call it a joke I will say the last couple years in 1A & 1AA in the last rankings it's gotten the top 5 -10 schools correct as far as how deep they in the playoffs though you always have the unpredictable like injuries.
As far as the comparisons I noticed only a couple teams completely left out in each class between the two. Polls made by humans sometimes we have a bias as far as school history or tradition the computer doesn't take that into account but it usually gets it rankings better as the season goes because the more information and numbers it gets this year though with less games it may not be as accurate in the end of this year.

by 2 points and there is a 3-way tie for 2nd place with Franklin, Pisgah and Hendersonville. Pisgah has half the points scored against them than the other 2. Not a lot to brag about. They still have a good chance of winning the Mountain 6 2A conference if they beat Franklin and Brevard.
