This nonsense of so many teams is nuts. No one should get a bye. That is a huge advantage when you don't have to run your kids out and risk injury while other top teams on the other side of the bracket have to.

I don't think BYEs are forced, teams opt out on their own...I just assumed winless teams will opt out and not travel.

I don't have to show it that way, just thought I would this week to see what it would look like.

Couple questions just out of curiosity.
Though right now Riverside is ranked higher than Tarboro are you assuming that Tarboro will win the conference since you have them at #1 in the East?
And Bear Grass I get that the only other football team in their Columbia hasn't played enough games to qualify and I assume neither did Bear Grass last year only playing 6 games according to MaxPreps but this year they'll play 10 games and the rule states...
1-5 teams = 1 Berth (Conference Champion)
so the way I read that is that even if a conference only has one team that they are still seeded as conference champion.
But apparently I'm missing something what is it?

I am assuming Tarboro will be the CC. Tarboro will have the highest RPI of the CCs, so they'll be seeded No. 1 at this time.

I understand it that way too...but the seeding committee does some weird things every year I can't put my finger on. I am assuming Bear Grass will finish with a losing record and be an auto-seeded WC...if they were to finish 0.500 or better I would seed them with the CCs.

Well I'm not sure if they have to have a winning record someone pointed out to me it states and/or a .500 record but that was also referring to a split conference but that the only place I see that references record. So yeah it be interesting where they end up putting them.
As far as Tarboro I didn't know if you were making a prediction who you thought would win or temporarily putting in the current leader in the RPI as the CC so that answers that question.

One of Bear Grass Charters win was against Hobgood Charter playing 8 man football, they shouldn’t be considered a conference champion at all imo

I don't believe they are still 8 man. According to MaxPreps they're in a conference called Freelance conference a mix of charter, private and home school teams including Asheville Christian Academy. It's odd though they don't seem to be members of the nchsaa or ncisaa. Also MaxPreps only list ten 8 man teams in NC. I wouldn't think the nchsaa would allow a 11 man team play an 8 man. Though if they're not apart of the nchsaa or ncisaa that might not qualify as official game I just don't know.

I know for a fact Hobgood plays 8 man. I know one of the assistant coaches.

Hobgood used to be a private school. When they switched to being a charter school their football program went away for a while but now they are starting it back up.

They play 8 man right now but they are currently in the process of trying to get in a NCHSAA conference in the next few years.

Someone should give that information to MaxPreps. I just don't get why is 8 man teams in a conference with 11 man teams? And how would a 8 man play 11 man? Is the 11 man team seating out 3 players for the game? The 10 teams that MaxPreps does have listed only play in the ncisaa 8 and other 8 man teams none of this makes sense to me. Going to be interesting to see where they put Bear Grass in the playoffs or even if they participate looks like this Freelance conference is just that and do their own thing they all don't even play each other.

Surely any win Bear Grass has against them won't county for NCHSAA seeding. Who knows of NCHSAA is even aware of this?

This could be solved easily if the NCHSAA would just recognize 8 man football. Would certainly help several schools.

I noticed on MaxPreps there's another Freelance conference, 8-Man Freelance. Looks like teams like Hobgood would be in that conference. I just don't get it.

and/or might be what I and others think it means because I just had a thought tonight discussing Owen vs Madison and the winner would be the 2A champ in WHC because they're the only 2A schools but looking back last year Owen won it with an overall record of 4-7 and while being conference champions in the 2A of a split conference they were not seeded with other conference champions they were seeded #32 and played the #1 seed. So I'm back to thinking you must have an overall winning record as well

i like the projection but i highly doubt they will have Draughn, Mitchell, and mount heritage in the same region. i think Draugh will sneak up to #4 or #5 in the final west projection.

Draughn is locked in at 6 seed. There owp is lowest in entire 1a West and is therefore keeping your rpi as last place of conference champions. Looks like y'all will be traveling to Mount Airy in round 3.
