10% from 3, 20% FT?

It all comes from poor foul shooting. Teams are playing super aggressive against us on defense knowing that if they send us to the line we don’t make them pay. So they can over commit on defense and it’s disrupting our offense. Make foul shots and they have to back off a little which opens up shots again. Started in the OSU game and Izzo picked up on it and perfected the model. Now everyone is doing it to us.
When Myles goes to the line he looks like he is just chucking the ball in the direction of the basket.
Unfortunately it’s rubbing off on the other guys. They are doing that too. Montez has about as much chance of making a foul shot as Myles.
And 57% on year at FT. Wow. That is completely inept. It’s almost unfathomable. Pike’s philosophy has to start to change to recruit shooters. I get his mold of the long athletic guy but we need players that can shoot. I hope Jones is one of those!
foul shooting for everyone except Myles is a mental thing. There is no reason our guards and wing players should be missing foul shots with such regularity. I’d have Mathis practicing foul shots for 2 hours after every practice until he got to 75%. He is killing us from the line and it destroys momentum. The kid can’t make a layup in traffic and when he goes to the line he back irons his one and one.
True, but some of that is RU missing the front end of one and ones and not earning the bonus.
