Basketball Index is still there as it always was. But he's rearranged his wider site and primed his meta data to funnel people into his pay features. So it's a lot harder to find the bball index by searching than it used to be. Here's the link for convenience:

We've moved from overall 23rd to overall 29th through our two games so far.

[Technically what we did is start at 26 preseason, then move to 23rd after our first game, then move to 29th after JMU. But I don't count Ken's preseason ratings even as much as I count everybody else's. His method has *some* value even early, but only once the actual teams start to interact.]

Our offensive rating has come up a bit while our defensive rating has slid down by around thirty notches. Doesn't necessarily need to mean anything because hopefully Pope has just been mixing and matching more than most teams early, searching for insights about how to play against KU since our roster is deeper than most.

Duke and Florida looking really strong. KU looking really strong and has risen since the year started.

As always this statistical stuff is very shaky this early in the year. But maybe a little less so than previously in some senses, since portal stars now gravitate towards P4 teams and that calcifies some trends in the upper echelon.

KenPom nerd numbers are a pace metric.

useless for anything else.
Not remotely. Pace is considered and is adjusted for. The predictions do way better than chance and way better than pace-only comparisons. It’s not a magic portal into the future and it’s not meant to be. But it’s not anything like this simplistic or this backwards.
